RJ Almost got bikejacked

I don know about here but in Oz for example, as soon as the blues and two come on and you aware that the police want you pull over, you are considered to be in Police custody or in other words, under the care of the Police. Hence any mishap goes against the Police, not the offender. Hence their reluctance to pursue under many circumstances, let alone make contact with a vehicle. The result is a fleet of high powered traffic cars limply sitting behind 1.6 litre corrollas for hours on end until it crashes into a house. Instead of trained coppers ending the chase in a safe way by hooking them up and turning them around on a slow corner, for example.
^ But you forgot to mention that failing to stop for the police carries a jail sentence of several years all by itself in Aus, in addition to any other stuff you are prosecuted for.
Finding people after the event and locking them up for a few years (which is the bit the UK doesn't do) is better than a chase where innocent people end up dead.

The whole issue really winds me up. When we picked up my dads new Vespa from the dealer in London the first thing they said was 'have you got somewhere safe to put it'

This has to be the most depressing thread I have seen on here, I have no pity for someone that feels they have a right to take whatever they like, they don't understand the value of anything, they need to be treated in the same way, if caught in the act take something away from them, the ability to walk.............or breathe............that will do for starters......
I'm pretty sure I saw those same scrotes on Garratt Lane in Earlsfield at about 10pm last night.
Two black T-Max scooters - both with pillions and their number plates removed - and travelling at quick a lick past the station.
Anyone fancy taking on a Max Max Interceptor role and trying to follow them home one night?
Seriously though, if it was possible to map sightings perhaps a pattern could be established of where they 'work' and where they could live.
It puts me off getting another nice bike with toerags like this freely operating across town.
Since RJ's close call I wonder how many bikes they've pinched?

The M.O. is now so obvious and frequent it is painful to observe how impotent the police are around West London.
These teenagers are on 500cc Yamaha TMax scooters driving around fairly recklessly and are easy to spot. There are normally 3 of them on 2 bikes, dressed in dark clothes. The thing that makes them easiest to spot is that overwhelmingly riders on large capacity bikes do not drive the way they do.
Yesterday I saw a pair exactly as I described in Fulham and a different pair in White City.
It is fairly obvious to me as a casual observer that this M.O. is a trend and not really being dealt with.

You need to zero in on the area they live, and eventually find out where they keep the 'peds'. With the amount of cctv in London boroughs I would have thought it is possible. That way they can be caught as they go to ride off on them with a sting operation; then you've got the criminsl acts that follow from having a stolen bike (will probably be downgraded to 'TWOC' or something stupid, but still).

These are excuses, in the current paradigm this may be true if applied literally with no lateral thinking. Looks like they had just nicked this bike and were making a getaway. I think that the siren you can hear might be the bike alarm? I presume that the moped is stolen as well. This is probably someone's pride and joy :-(
Reporting to the police - although not sure how much good that will do.
