I see that MCN's long term Multistrada Enduro - £17k new - has been stolen. According to the article, Northants police "made it clear that they are not prepared to sift through two hours of (car park CCTV) footage to catch criminals".

The Northants Police and Crime Plan PDF document has a section entitled Drugs Eradication and the Reduction of Acquisitive Crime, but I can't find any reference to "acquisitive crime", which I assume is the activity carried out by "thieving scrotes".

If anyone is looking for a change in career, stealing stuff in Northamptonshire may be a viable option. smile

EDIT: They have a mission statement!

Northamptonshire Police: Statement of Mission and Values
We will act with integrity, compassion, courtesy and patience, showing neither fear nor favour in what we do. We will be sensitive to the needs and dignity of victims and demonstrate respect for the human rights of all.
We will use discretion, professional judgement and common sense to guide us and will be accountable for our decisions and actions. We will respond to well-founded criticism with a willingness to learn and change.
We will work with communities and partners, listening to their views, building their trust and confidence, making every effort to understand and meet their needs.
We will not be distracted from our mission through fear of being criticised. In identifying and managing risk, we will seek to achieve successful outcomes and to reduce the risk of harm to individuals and communities.
In the face of violence we will be professional, calm and restrained and will apply only that force which is necessary to accomplish our lawful duty. Our commitment is to deliver a service that we and those we serve can be proud of and which keeps our communities safe.

I'm sure there's something missing from that mission statement, but I just can't quite put my finger on it...

That mission statement right there, is everything wrong with 21st Century policing.

£17k bike and won't look at CCTV. £10k of damage to my BiL's TVR after a failed theft attempt led to a sustained vandalism attack in a secure underground carpark, inside and outside of the car. In spite of clear hand prints made from the oil they used, inside and on the car body - they wouldn't send a forensics team and said they'd only look at the car if he got it to the station. They would also not look at CCTV.

The fact that the car had slashed tyres, oil in the cabin, scratched into the paint and all of the visible leads and electrics in the engine torn out, was explained to them. Zero interest.

3 attempted thefts under my window in last week in Fulham. Two nights running, I was giving statements to the Police in the middle of the road at 3am.

My neighbour got her door kicked off its hinges for having the audacity to film them. One bike was naked, and 2 attempts foiled. Since they closed Fulham police station it has been easy days for them.

I've had 3 bikes nicked in 3 years living in Fulham.

I've just seen the bds!

Circulating around Upper Richmond Road in Putney. On a black bike, couldn't see what, but a big naked, not a scooter. No numberplate, obviously. Same helmets, same big conk.

Called the police, 5 mins on hold... But still, let's hope they get the little dheads. Or put the fear of God up them at least... I'm at my mates house, had I not fancied a glas of wine I'd have ridden here too. Thank god I didn't...
It must have been them I seen flying past Stamford Bridge last saturday at about 9pm. Two black X-max scooters with no numberplates.

How the fk you can ride in London with no plates and not be spotted by the 5-0?

You can do what the fk you like in central London on a bike more or less and that's with a plate the size of a plasma TV on a huge bike. They're either stuck in traffic and can't come after you or have better things to do like attend to the death of another promising young footballer at a birthday party full of other promising young footballers who all decided that they'd rather stab each other to death than earn millions playing football with their obvious and unmistakable talent.

Our issues don't make headlines and don't affect most voters, which means voters don't care which means politicians don't care which means police don't care. It's really that simple. Make it an issue for politicians and it becomes an issue for police. The worst part is that the rise of #ukbikelifeinnitbruv is actually probably encouraging a disliking for bikers in general, not endearing us to the people, the coppers or the politicians.

I'd be willing to protest this and I'm Australian so generally pathetically apathetic. Block half of one well chosen road in London for no more than the width and length of a semi trailer at the right time of day and you can really make a scene.

What more can I/ we do with the met and / or Westminster to fight this ?
Having a serious 'word' with old big nose (from previous page) and posting the results on youtube might deter a few of his mates? and if not it would at least give the rest of us some entertainment.

I don't think the Police/Westminster are going to do anything...

I pulled up to my home just 5 minutes ago and these guys were outside chatting to one of my neighbours over the road. No plates on either bike but it was definitely the same guys.

I spotted them as soon as I turned into my road and knew it was them. I phoned the police, told them the guys who had been stealing all the motorbikes in London were parked outside my house and they needed to attend right now. Police got here just as they were starting up to leave and as soon as the police came round the corner they were off so fast. Not sure what they're going to do about the neighbour but they've gone off after the guys on the bikes...

I'm glad the police chased. But I did think they weren't allowed to, in case the little darlings hurt themselves?

Does your neighbour look anything like the bloke on the left?

Don't expect the police to be doing anything, but if you know some people who would be interested in the neighbours details, here, elsewhere, on that Facebook group, then you have the thieves, and with more persuasion, the people who are buying the bikes off them

I'm not going to presume anything but if I were I would say he was involved in the ordering/selection process of what to steal and the guys on the bikes are just doing what he says. That's just the vibe I got and from looking at the man, he just looked like your typical Eastern European bad man!!

I've got no idea whether the Police chase bikes round here. But it's the MET Police and the boys in the Police car went after them and left the man standing on the side of the road.

Have you seen those tracker chips you can hide anywhere ? If you are feeling generous, why not stuck one on his large German saloon and see where his lock up is...

unfortunately the penalty for that can be jail. Which is more severe than if you are a thief.

Make sure you don't get caught....

Either way, don't do nothing, inform the Facebook group, or the local robbery squad, or play a bit of detective yourself

Shame there weren't enough people taking notice to have caught the twunt with all the mouth - he was waving an angle grinder around but if it wasn't spinning it's hardly an offensive weapon. Not to be all "PH Tough" but a couple of guys in bike gear with crash helmets could have pinned him down.

It really is time for some non-vigilante vigilante action.

I was thinking the same thing. Enough blokes standing around in the video to all club together and pin them down. If they can get close enough to kick him off the bike they can finish the job by holding him. Knowing the Police though they'll probably say there wasn't enough evidence to convict and let him go.

No doubt they'll be back for that bike in the coming weeks.

What scum, i would have certainly been in there to help pin them down.

Hardly a 40K bike being an 899, but gutting all the same for the poor owner.
