Want to see how they actually steal the bikes whilst somebody is riding it? Look at this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6ctYpBN7Q0
Here, they appear to actually steal the bike whilst its being ridden!
I think that scooter has already been stolen and its a thief riding it, being pushed along by the other two bikes. The guy with the camera follows them a little to get the plates.

>50% of all bike theft in the UK is in London, dozens every day. If there is little deterrent of getting caught, Police that are not allowed to pursue and a market for the stolen goods, its not going to get better any time soon....

Should have RJ been doing 100MPH and getting caught speeding?

Running is not the best option most of the times, as it encourages animals to chase and attack, especially, if they are (possibly) on drugs

Sensationalism- it is not, his actions are applaudable, I personally near envy, as how quick and correct his reactions where in circumstances.

Doesn't need to do 100mph to lose them in London, as soon as they know he's aware, chances are they'll leave him alone for easier prey.

I think maintain they were more spooked by the po-po than they were by RJ looking and their (missing) plate.

Not wishing to add to the slightly sensationalist nature of the video, but you do see more and more of these cretins all the time in London, thrashing around two up on mopeds with no plates and face masks on. I know I sound like a Daily Wail reader when I say it but they're clearly up to no good.

Still not sure how such leniency can be levied against such people. Rob a post office of 10 grand and it would be all over the news and everyone would be up in arms. Nick a bike worth the same and no one (except the owner) seems to bat an eyelid.

What percentage of bikes are fitted with trackers?

A very, very small percentage I would imagine. What is the success rate of a tracker? (bearing in mind bike theft is a low priority for the police force)

I do believe it was potentially a bike-jacking. They clearly did a sharp about turn and caught up to him, and were exceedingly suspicious.

From this and the other linked videos they clearly love the yamaha Tmax 530's, hence why they tried hard to steal mine from west london when it was chained up with an almax to a lamppost.

Here's one I came across on the A40 out of london, right behind a big estate

Identifying them does nothing. The wet dreams about HD cameras and stuff are simply that.

In Edinburgh there's a gang of 12 left on the streets, we know their names, addresses, what they had for dinner last night (follow them all on instagram and Facebook). They post what they steal, brazen as you like.

Not much happens. There's 1 copper assigned to this (well a few more for a recent operation). Even when there is a catch, it's unlikely to get through to jail time. Best case they get community service but most likely the case gets dropped.

Today a very nice looking watch was stolen I can see. No doubt there will be a bike after tea time.

That info needs to be leaked and a good old fashioned posse formed.

Several people suggested it. One did it and posted a picture - I think I see where he went wrong. I think he only got a talking to.

Fwiw the picture of the scroat was comical. Contorted face because he was being strangled in the photo

Recent attack at Lakeside saw an R1 I think it was. Other biker tried to intervene and had acid thrown at him which burnt through all his clothes and his bag-So I was told.

Something needs doing

I'm pretty sceptical that they would have made an attempt to bike-Jack him. Seems an incredibly difficult thing to do on a motorbike.

Whether they intended to follow him and locate the bike for immediate or future theft is a different matter. They were clearly spooked by the camera.

And the problem with confronting the thieves is ...

We really need a way to ensure this scum pay for what they do.

What a tragedy. Exactly why the police should focus more on this crime. These guys are brazen with acid and knives. Not only are they stealing scooters and motobikes, they then use these to commit other crimes - drug deliveries, murders, armed robberies, muggings etc.

That and get rid of the fear of home and property owners getting into trouble for protecting their property and themselves with proper force. If those guys had come out with baseball bats and messed up one of the scrotes, they would have been arrested and possibly charged - so you go out with your cock in your hand and hope the scum bags don't have knives.

This is the problem though, it will take an owner killing a scrote while protecting his property before anything changes (if at all) or the police actually believe their is a problem that needs dealing with.

What can the Police do?
They can't chase them (& they know it), disrupt their activities & it's harassment complaints.
