Finally got one on Saturday. Chuffed to bits. Running in to do but it's making me smile already, 200m on clock so far on local roads.

Me too! Just finding my way round it at present. 500m running in service to get to then can open it up a bit more.

Congrats, looks great. I'm loving my standard Thruxton, done around 700miles so far, puts a massive smile on my face!
One thing I wasn't expecting is the reaction it gets, lots of smiles, thumbs up and lots and lots of questions every time I stop somewhere.
Enjoy thumbup

always had jap bikes, started with 2 stroke racers and went to the usual 4 stroke 4 cyl race reps. never had anything off road, cruiser or cafe racer. last 3 years have had a beautiful ducati 748sps, which luckily went up in value a little which offset the horrendous service costs to some extent.
have always liked retro stuff, wanted a modern norton but seen a lot of negative comments about the experience, then had a days test ride on the Thruxton R and immediately placed an order.

comments so far- bit limited due to 4k revs max for 300m, and bedding engine in etc. tyres also a bit greasy as new but now fine. its as good i reckon as my 748 was in bends, although i havent yet got fully confident i feel its very stable and turns in lovely. the seating and riding is spot on, albeit the seat is very firm. i might eventually have it re-padded locally.

brakes are superb. very very strong. its a torque monster bike, you can tell, and very quick on the test ride in sport mode, was lifting the front wheel a bit (or trying).

Ive a few plans to customise the look a bit, thats one of the attractions, Triumph have a million bits out already (if you can actually get them) and also others are starting to supply.

its too quiet by far, euro crap nonsense. pipes to come.

your boot heels tend to scuff the black side pods i've found, i've stuck a sticker on there for now as a temporary fix.

thats about it, i just love riding it, i think you could do a full day on it no worries, my 748 used to kill the wrists. this has a bit of twin vibration but is very smooth. the fairing kit comes with dropped clip ons and puts a bit more weight on your wrist but still a great riding position.

one slight glitch last night, it cut out once on coasting down to some lights, but immediately restarted, I've read a few people have had this and it was cured at the first 500m service with throttle balance reset on the ecu.

cheers. i can see me keeping it, i dont usually chase the latest bikes or swap often, and this will hopefully be a lot less intensive servicing cost wise than the ducati.

Another Chris here, although I'm an ex Thruxton R owner.
