I've not struggled with Rosso 2s in the bucketing rain, fastest wet run of my life was on fresh Rosso 2s in the highlands a few years back. Similarly I've never experienced any noticeable difference in turn in either PR3s or PR4s, in fact I have them for the budget track bike I'm starting work on.

I'm quite happy to discuss that we may not like them because of our personal use, but I'm not convinced any of us have exceeded the potential of these premium tyres, wet or not.
100% agree - whilst I am concerned about the type of wear (never seen it before - pictures on the way) I will be the first to admit I will never get near, let alone to the limit of a bike or its tyres. Not to say I don't appreciate a premium tyre :-)

Also, I don't plan on riding this bike in the rain, too much work to clean a naked.

PR3's have always lasted me a long time and never had issues in lacking grip as I ride on the road - makes me think any premium tyre that doesn't have this sort of wear rate would suit me.

My current Rosso III has done various 1000 mile per month riding, a 2000 mile Euro tour and two trackdays and still has some life in it. I don't hang about as a rule.

In comparison the II it replaced did about 2500 miles (2.5 months). The III is better in all conditions, sticks like the proverbial to a shovel and is fantastic in the wet. You know what to do.

That's a Brutale 800RR.

It's worth noting something like a PR4 has such a slow rate of turn on a bike like this that it'll last forever but spoil the ride.
I'm supprised you find the PR4 has a slow rate of turn, I find the turn in much quicker than the PR2's

Mind you it's a bit pointless comparing the same tyre on different bikes, there are far too many variables with regards geometry, suspension set ups, riding styles and tyre pressures.

When I had the Rosso IIIs on I had some huge cold tyre slides on them. I really feel that the PR4 is better in that respect. I also feel quite happy on the PR4s in a deluge, whereas the Rossos just don't feel like they have the sipes to deal with that.

To counter the slow turn I just jack the back of the bike up a bit and then counter-steer with incredible force. smile

Agreed.

I'm pretty impressed with the new Rosso 3... two track days, fast (ish) road work and commuting on an old Fireblade... currently on 5600 miles front and rear... good for another 500-1000 miles before replacing them. A better tyre than the Metzler M7's that I ran for 15,000 miles.

I don't like Pilot roads either. They don't belong on a sportbike. That's just my opinion and why I don't fit them.

My Pilot Road 4 after 1600 miles. It's interesting to see how the softer edge rubber has worn on these. The tyre's wearing very slowly compared to my old Pirelli Rosso IIIs. They haven't really slid much this year and I've not had any cold tyre slides like I did on the Rosso IIIs.

I've been running Conti Sport Attacks for a change (couldn't get hold of Supercorsa scrubs in time)

Nice tyre, confident in both wet and dry. About 700 miles in and looking at them I would say they will give a decent mileage for the money.

Rosso3 is a good all round tyre and as much as anyone needs on the road. But the M7RR is a grippier tyre and far more confidence inspiring when leant over. May not offer the same mileage though. I've ridden both tyres over the same road on sportsbikes. M7RR had the advantage.

I put the Rosso3 on my 1098R for a trip to Portugal earlier this year. It has lasted the trip (2k miles) and has another 500 miles or so, but it is already within 1mm of the wear bars. It has worn very evenly though and was good enough for some spirited rides through the twisties. To only get 2.5k miles, however, is not enough extra mileage advantage for me compared to the DRC which is better in terms of feel and grip.

For a sportsbike, DRC FTW.

I had the Rosso 2 on my Dragster and got them off after 600 miles. Put them back on when I sold it. Found them crap. Alright in the dry warm +8 degrees but rubbish in the wet and not much grip

I wouldn't mind giving them Rosso 3 a go though heard good things about them
