Just walked out of my office and saw a bloke pulling a red/silver GS1200 out of the bay with another bloke sat on 1 of the large scooters wearing a balaclava under his helmet, they didnt have the bike started & the guy on the scooter pushed the GS along with his hand on the rear box round into Mount Street, I hobbled as quick as I could (broken bone in my foot) to see where they were heading as it couldnt be far but they had dissapeared - called the police asap to give them the details and they are on their way.

Guy who made off on the GS had a white Arai with black japanese writing on (Hayaubusa style writing) - no plate on the scooter being used.

Didnt see all of the plate on the GS but pretty sure it started as HN16 - no broken lock or chain on the floor where it was parked if it had one on.

Just watched that - same scooter and the rider (same clothes, same helmet) is who pulled the GS out the bay and made off on it (being pushed).

Can't understand why disc locks are not used more.

Bike can't be pushed along anywhere then, by these "scooter" gangs.

It will only be a matter of time before they are caught.

Scum bags!

Isn't London the most CCTV'd city in the world?! Can't they track them via CCTV?

Absolute scumbags.

According to the program 'Hunted' they can be found easily!

There is another GS in the bay which has locks so Im guessing that this one they've taken was the easier target.

All CCTV will show is a masked pair on an unplated scooter......totally useless if you don't have someone available to chase them.

Cordless grinders seem to be used more often. When thieves realised that no one was actually going to stop them be it public or police then you can make as much noise as you want cutting through chains.

Pitty you could not have intervened in some way, or even took pictures being they took of with a scooter pushing the other bike.
Hope they catch the tts, but I would not bet on it.

Yes, but surely you'd actually be able to see where they went with it?

Pulled my phone to video/take a pic but no point as there was no plate on the scooter so hobbled after them as quick as I could whilst on the phone to the police.

Woah I'm very surprised they're stealing bikes there. Made me think twice about assuming bike safety in Mayfair and indeed anywhere else in the city. Good effort for reporting, hopefully the met will pull their finger out!

How?

Without removing it?

Think I can remember something back along where they were sticking a pole through the wheel and lifting it between two scoots. Not so efficient as just pushing it away though.

The same thing happened to my friend a few weeks ago. They got into his underground car park below his flat in Battersea, ground off the disc lock on his 2014 fireblade and used the scooter towing method to take it out. They park the bikes up and put them under a cover (locked!) so that they can wait to see whether the bike has a tracker. My friend's did and he and the police found it in Streatham the next morning with the largest chain I have ever seen holding it to a post. They had torn off the seat and ripped out the battery and had damaged the front disc, but thanks to the tracker he got it back.
