This.
I treat it as a day out and a chance to try some kit without having to go to ten different shops. And some eye candy to enjoy inbetween. And it's something to look forward to during the cold and wet Novembers..
Eye candy was a bit sparse last year compared to the year before, hopefully that is something else that will be better this time around.I treat it as a day out and a chance to try some kit without having to go to ten different shops. As per the title.
I went to the London show, which was okay. Now I've gotten my full license, I'm really looking forward to going to the NEC bike show. I'm going on a friday to avoid the crowds, are there any types of offers I should be looking to take advantage of as a newbie looking to acquire gear?
I went onto the site and they offer test rides. How good are the test rides and do you have a variety of machines on offer?

The variety of bikes is very good usually, but if you want to guarantee a test ride and another activity e.g. Motorcross you really have to get there for when the doors open and make a run for it.
Even queuing for just a test ride can be about an hour of standing unless you get there early.

Since you've got a new licence, don't forget to ask all the girls on the stands for their telephone numbers. Legally, they have to give it to you. If they pretend not to know what you mean, insist harder. This just means they want you to know they don't just give their numbers out to any old licence-come-lately.
Likewise, don't forget to sit on every single bike (not forgetting to pull the fully adjustable levers and adopt a racing crouch), as that's literally the only way to gather useful data on any motorbike. Then, once you've done that, immediately report back here with your findings, most especially the ones you found comfy or surprisingly uncomfy or comfy compared to one of the ones you found less comfy. This is vital. Those of us unable to go will fall embarrassingly far behind with our spread sheets if not.
Thank you.

My lady may have a thing to say about getting loads of numbers but I'll try my luck. Thankfully I know the class of bike I'm after so maybe I'll go Rossi style on just one of the static bikes to show off to the lucky lady that gives me her number. But in all seriousness, envelope pushing KPI's is what you should be asking the booth representatives. "On a scale of pushing the envelope, would your bike be a 1 or a 10.. 1 being lowest"
Im going with my lady. I want to try a few bikes having just passed my test. Thought it'll be the ideal chance to try different bikes back to back. I have only ridden a naked bike an SV650 which I used to pass my test. I want to see what a sports bike is like to ride in comparison to a naked. I love the CBR600RR sounds from what I've read sounds like the perfect intro to a sports bike but I want to see what the other supersport options are like in the flesh as well and to ride them.
I want to see If I can buy some nice new gear in terms of clothing and glovesl. Also I'd like to try some helmets and such on as well and check out gloves.
Also I feel with the new EU regs coming out in Jan there may be a chance to negotiate on some good deals on soon to be superseed bikes that dealers no longer want and need to shift asap! I'm being a tight arse and looking to buy a bike in the depths of winter when dealers will be begging me to take stock of their hands So I'll use the show to get in touch with friendly local dealers.
