Treat it as a day out, road trip up there, brekky on the way. Look at some bikes, soak up some atmosphere, shop for tat you didn't need until it was right in front of you, pretend you're too high-brow to look at the T&A on show, then head back with a cracking pub dinner in the Cotswolds on the way home.

If you go by yourself with no money, no mates, a time limit and high hopes of getting a pair of gloves for 70% off, you're going to be disappointed.

This, going with mates makes it far more enjoyable, and they can also take pictures of you sitting on the latest bike you will probably never be able to afford.

If you fancy joining up for the trip I was planning on going on my own so sharing some costs and having some conversation is welcome. I'm in Gt Missenden.

I'm going from bristol on the 23rd. I may have a spare seat if anyone wants to come along.

I for 1 ccan't wait as I like having everything in one place to look at and just spending a day looking at bikes and the birds is good enough for me

Are you the Missenden Flyer?

I'm going this Saturday, south Oxfordshire, and as it looks to be warn and dry I shall ride in and park for free, if I can find the free parking, is it well signed?

It's a few years since I visited the show but this thread has just brought back a memory which made me giggle.
About 4 or 5 years ago I went with a mate, we'd just parked up and my oppo was on the phone to a client so I was getting some fresh air when a car parked in the row in front of us.
4 lads get out, dressed in shorts and tshirts, bit brave thinks me, it was bloody cold.
They then go to the boot of the car to take out 4 sets of full leathers, boots, gloves and lids and all get changed as if going out on their bikes.
They lock the car up and walk in to the NEC with two bemused people following them thinking maybe they have test rides booked?
No, they went into the main hall, booked their lids in for safekeeping before entering the show arena with everyone else.
Still haven't worked it out to this day.

Its about being a biker or being perceived as a biker,a lot of bikey (hate that term )people get as much enjoyment out of dressing up and feeling part of the group than actually riding.
Check for the motorcyclists wearing salt splashed mucky kit and they probably actually rode there.
Its a bit like the guys who dress in country and western gear and shoot fake guns, they actually think they are cowboys whereas in reality they probably push a brush for a living and live on the local estate.
But they,re not harming everyone so let em get on with brightening up there dreary little livesbiglaugh

I for one will be driving down in my car as its far too bloody cold for me and im a big softy these days, may even put my heated seats on ,but not wear my bike kit or helmetthumbup

If I go on the bike I was going to get out of my bike gear, put it all away including the helmet and on put on normal clothes, does that make me strange?

I've seen a few tts do this in the past. As for being percevied as a biker. your going to a bike show so most are going to be into bikes or a biker

I will be going been last 3 years take the kids who a) get in for free being 4 and 2, b) are allowed to touch things which is the opposite of every day life c) as my daughter is 4 quite often if she asks the man on the stand she gets to sit on the special bike behind the barriers normal people aren't allowed to touch (Ducati race bike last year)and d) its not a bad day out if your into bikes you get to see a lot of shiney stuff and some pretty rare stuff too and its true to say the range of clothing is massive so even if you dont buy you get to know what fits an feels good and you never know you may get a bargin etc.

Food is way over priced but I just see that as a "Festival tax" basically where else can you go though as the NEC is a fixed location its not like they have to charge so much an could have a better cafe but hey they are there to make money so don't like it bring some sandwich's.

Finally I always buy a jumper or such like from one of the manufactures stands, I will be wearing one walking round though I tend to wear a bike type fleece most of the time anyway given I have a few.

To all those going have a great time and I hope you bag a bargain.

Panigale Superleggera...or a Suter...haha. I'd love to buy a new R1(M) though.
