Is that the part where it turns out she's actually Keyser Söze?

Now I have seen the footage, report her, then put the camera in a drawer, or if you must on your bike, putting it on your helmet is stupid, do you really want it punching through your helmet if you fall off?

Looked like she thought it was a two lane exit, ie one way.
'thought' may be pushing it a little - but I do have a (minuscule) degree of sympathy for this ^^^ opinion.

not being a biker my thought is.... dob her in. No question absolute 'tard she needs a severe talking to
I doubt it. She moved left quite promptly after passing the bike.

I can't stand people who care that little about being "in control" of a car.

If you wear cheap crap on your head maybe? but surely it would just snap off, although ill contradict myself by saying I mount on my bike to reduce helmet drag [as the actress said to the bishop]

Agreed, i don't subscribe to the idea that it will cause any issues. At the least, it is at jaw level. The camera (Stealth drift 2) is quite small and not like one of those go-pro bricks, i have never noticed any drag and you forget it is there when riding.

The camera is attacked by a small clip on mount that in turn is simply stuck to the helmet with some padded sticky tape. Should it take an impact that does not break it off, then the base of the pad is as large as the camera so spreads the load over the same area anyway.

Any camera is extremely unlikely to "punch through" the side of any helmet, regardless of how expensive the helmet was. SHARP have proved with impact tests that the strength of a helmet shell has bugger all to do with the price tag.

Much more of a risk is that, in a crash and slide situation, the camera will "catch" and cause the head to twist to the side. Not good! Add the extra weight of the camera, not a huge amount I know but extra over and above an already heavy helmet, and your neck is going to get a really hard time.

Arai are so concerned with the shape of the helmet shell, they have yet to produce a helmet with internal sun visor. This is with years of helmet design experience and crash testing. I dont use a camera very often, but when I do, it is on the bike. You dont want anything catching in a high speed slide...

I'd never trust Arai to explain something scientific. They still believe reinforcing your chin is more important than protecting the side of your head in an accident, despite all evidence to the contrary.

Cameras on your helmet just seems a bad idea too me for a whole host of reasons that only common sense will confirm.

I suspect that Schumacher would have some views on that issue...

Whilst you've not done anything illegal, to me it looks like you were riding too fast and barely compensated for her illegal and completely retarded driving.

No offence.
Are you on drugs!!

The op reacted swiftly and sensibly to an unexpected threat and came to a complete stop. It is the very definition of speed appropriate driving.

Unless of course you're argument is simply about the numbers. Which is fairly lame.

I'd like to know the outcome of this, I had the exact same thing turning, coming off a mini roundabout last weekend. A car right in my path that had overtaken at a junction on a blind dip, on the wrong side of a pedestrian island and approaching a mini roundabout.

I was fking livid, I sat there bemused going wtf, glaring at his big blue flashing lights, the ECILOP written on its bonnet and admiring his ice cream siren going full pelt.

Giro’s Eric Richter said: “We studied this issue thoroughly, including significant testing at our in-house DOME test lab with both Go-Pro and Contour units. Our mounts cause no significant additional loads for the neck nor brain rotation due to well designed breakaway features.”

Michael Grim of Specialized said: “We believe that a good GoPro mount should “break away” in an impact. We think this is the main thing. There is still risk that the camera could still cause injury, but not worse than rocks, eyewear, etc. There is always risk of injury in an accident, regardless. So, it’s always best to keep the rubber side down.

“From our experience, so far, most of the adhesive mounts do break away fine. It seems a bigger problem that cameras get knocked off and lost. So, tethering the camera may also be wise, while still providing the breakaway feature. We think it’s a bad idea to have a camera “hard mounted or bolted” to the helmet, as this may increase risk by adding leverage to rotation in an impact.”

So what happens if you slam dunk the ground with the camera on the side, it's not gonna break off it's mount is it. I don't give a toss either way I just know I wouldn't have one on the side of my helmet

I love that everyone who hates these cameras has suddenly become uncharacteristically concerned with safety.

Given we're all in tee shirt, shorts and flip flops, we have to ensure we land on our head and that the helmet is going to do it's job! biggrin

what a load of ste. "Should, we think, from our experience, most". He admits it himself he hasn't a fking clue in that quote.

Fit a discrete camera on the bike with a constant rewrite loop. If you need footage for an accident it's there. 99% forget and you won't care and you won't a) look like a cock with a camera on b) won't exacerbate any head injury should the worst happen c) become a self righteous prick.

ETA. In my opinion your riding looked ok, report the micra.

Please ,please ,please post the footage with complete audio for extra rant factor ....I'm sure you're saintly compared to some on here ...MTB wink

Mr PP is having a laugh about your speed . One thing I am curious about ..Did you give her a toot on the horn ?

I usually give it a miss as I don't want to have them shocked and swerve in the wrong direction as they awake from their slumber smile
