great race.

Guess where my money is going next year for a title win wink Worth a punt.

Race started well, bit dull during the middle but picked up towards the end. Great news for Cal. Shame for Nicky, he was going well and I had hoped he would do a bit better.

Wait. Did Crutchlow just do a post-race interview without seeming graceless? Brilliant.

Is that a theory about this season Egor? Do you think there are team orders stopping Lorenzo competing ?

Was a really interesting race, great work from Cal, his pressure was certainly a contributor to Marc's off. Also a really good interview. Much prefer the humble Cal to the mental one we sometimes see. Brilliant ride.

Marc has been very mature this season, I wonder if he didn't have the title in the bag if he would have taken it a little easier?

Wonderful ride from Rossi and Maveric as well. Both were fairly patient, no crazy / desperate over takes.

So where does cal go from here? Confess I was one of those losing patience in him before but he's on incredible form now - even without marquez fall he was catching - when was the last dry straight win from a non top bike? Is this form here to stay or a blip?

Someone needs to raid pedrosas safety deposit box so repsol can sack him off and give cal a go.

It's easy to forget Cal is a WSS and WSBK champion. He clearly knows how to put a season together.

S Lowes is also a WSS champion, just seems to be struggling to stay on the thing. I find him irritating sometimes, but he's got a good bike this year and his GP ticket is booked. I hope Aprilia have a lot of spares.

The other thing I'd love to know is how factory is that LCR Honda now following his Czech win?

When did he win WSBK?

The Honda has been a factory bike since he first got on it, I thought.

You're right, he didn't. Whoops.

And apparently the bike is "factory" but I'd be prepared to bet it's higher spec than the Marc VDS bikes and lower spec than the Repsols. I wonder if he got some tricker kit when he won at Brno.

It's a similar situation to the Tech 3 bikes that are last year's factory machines.

Would be nice if someone bought and ran the Suzukis as a satellite team for next year. If I was Aspar I could be seriously tempted. Anyone want to go halves?

fking Heuwen!
And fking Perry!

Ones just a shouty ill informed opinionated tt. And the other knows fk all about GP other than there's a guy called Rossi there. Did anyone see her stand alone interview with VR? Just dogste!

Actually come close to ruining BTs coverage!

Fair play to Bradley as well for the sprint to the line that netted 8th!

Redding did well but strangely hardly gets any plaudits for it. Can't suss that.

I thoroughly enjoyed that, hate staying up all night though - 2 weeks now, one to go - so utterly knackered. Cal was fantastic, no disputing that and he seemed to ride with his head as well as a lot of heart. Would have been interesting to see a scrap between Call and Marc, but MM binned it due to his own mistake, pressure from CC must have contributed rather a lot.

At the beginning of the year I had bets with myself what lap Cal was going down on, always got it wrong, but he still went down like a punch drunk fighter (dirtier similes are available smile ) and I was despairing of him. Impressed that the team etc kept the faith but they have a LOT more info than we do, so they know when we can only guess and criticise...

well done lad, some more like that please.

Absolutely.
I expect Cal will be receiving more data support from HRC now to get the best out of the electronics.
Would have been interested to see what would have happened if Marc hadnt binned it - would Cal have caught him?

I'm not sure that would actually benefit him, in fact, I'd go as far as saying it would be a negative for Cal.

He already has the same bike (near as damn it) and I think part of his success has come from the team he's in - it really looks like he feels at home there - I can't see him feeling the same at Repsol.

All this talk of Crutchlow on a Repsol bike is a waste of time. He's already said that he's a Monster energy sponsored rider and Repsol is Red Bull sponsored, so that ends the discussion.

It was a really nasty crash, to come out of that with relatively minor injuries was a big relief.

Love Phillip Island, just a shame its Winter when we go there....

Cal thinks he could have challenged 93 - Hmmm, Im not sure.

46 to second from 15th was good going from the old man.

Mv showed true class today when Aleix crumbled under pressure, be good to see him next year doing well.

Dovi is supposedly good on the brakes, but it didnt look like it today tbh.

Lorenzo -Hmm...given up already ? He looked beaten in yesterdays interviews.

Sepang will be different as the whole circuit has been resurfaced and a number of corners reworked.Expect a few of the old guard to end up on the floor.

was it in june that cal was being written-off on here? smile Two wins, two seconds follow and now he's top satellite by some margin
Plus the small matter of being 6th in the championship ahead of Dovi on the factory Ducati he was so slated for leaving....

The same vitriol and abuse doesn't stretch to Sam Lowes, who's thrown it down the road 28 times this year and with it a genuine chance of challenging for the world title. Probably as he's less controversial on social media.

Only 3 independent wins since '06 and Cal has 2 of them.

I have to agree that Vinales on the Yamaha is an exciting prospect for next year and Ducati really have to be thinking, WTF! The move to Michelins is hurting his ability to ride, however Sepang is likely to be different with the temps being so much higher.
I don't know about "vitriol and abuse", it didn't seem to stretch to that. However, on that subject... I did make a light hearted quip in recent months about slowes staying on long enough to win and I got a long explanation (more like telling off) of his and his brothers accomplishments. It was the same when all we heard was how great redding was compared to smith. When was the last time anyone mentioned scott?

I think Vinales may have mistimed it by going Yamaha. The Suzuki is a true race winner now.
The Cal bashing was a sport for a long time. It'll be back as soon as he falls of again. Redding beating Petruci today was great as he's one step closer to the GP17 in the inter teammate competition for next season.

The Lowes twins may turn it around, however I am compelled to comment that Alex shouldn't have stepped up to WSB on a Yamaha, it's not a race winning machine and he's crashing trying to make it one.

Sam is leaving M2 without really proving his worth. He's signed to ride the Aprillia who are making progress, but they're still a mile away.

They're both very talented, however both on bikes that aren't going to deliver race leading rides, let alone race winning.... Therefore the next 2 seasons will be very telling for their longer term careers I think.

As for Suzuki, their lack of investment in their racing department will tell eventually. At Philip Island it was always going to go well, as they prefer colder temps and it's not a power circuit, rewarding a balance of power and handling. I hope it's different than their usual efforts.

Whilst most of us mocked the multi class MGP grids and the plethora of different rules through the transition to the current rules, it could be observed it has really started to deliver again. 10yrs waiting for an independent win and now we have 3 in a season. The more they can spread the nearly latest kit around the better.
