I'm seriously thinking of buying one even though I'd never use the off road capability because it's got shaft drive, a comfortable seating position, and is fun to ride. Though if they did an equivalent without the off road pretentions I'd obviously get that instead.

Theat's called an R1200R/R1200RS/R1200RT (depending how big/comfy/sporty you want to go).I'm seriously thinking of buying one even though I'd never use the off road capability because it's got shaft drive, a comfortable seating position, and is fun to ride.
