Try and get an epic ride in one weekend ( no beer night before)

Make the effort to ride all my bikes one nice Saturday ( no beer night before)

Actually get some enthusiasm to clean said bikes ( no beer night before)

Do a track day ( no beer night before)

Try not to have a beer on a Friday so I can actually achieve some goals .

My rough plans.
  1. Decide on all the details for the new set of leathers that I'm getting. This might take until 2027.
  2. Decide on what fairing I'll bolt onto the Thruxton. This might also take until 2027.
  3. Do a track day at Phillip Island. I've got a friend talking about doing one in January.
  4. I'm also thinking of doing some track training. The California Superbike School runs sessions at Phillip Island.
  5. Ride the Great Ocean Road, if it's been cleared of landslides.
  6. Possibly go up to Sydney for the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride.
So nothing extravagant then rolleyes

I live in Melbourne, so Phillip Island and the start of the Great Ocean Road are about equivalent of going from Oxford to the south coast.

Sydney would be a bit of a hike. Probably a couple of days ride to get there.

The leathers are extravagant, though. smile

I recently did my CBT/Mod 1&2 in 5 days so my plan is to get a bike and then ride it as much as possible to gain experience, I'd also like to do a track day but I feel like I need to work on the basics first.

I'm just busy trying to pick a bike at the moment! smile

Got a little ~700 mile route to/round Wales I've been toying with that I'd like to try and make some time for next year - a few days away from everything sounds perfect at the moment!

1) Ride more. I bet Triumph laughed when they drained the oil out of my bike at the last service. It'll still have been bloody fresh from the previous service.

A large part of that has been due to personal circumstances. It's such a faff getting the bike out for work I've not bothered commuting on it this year. On my days off work I've often been too knackered or not had enough time to ride. I've spent any amount of time fretting about the battery, selecting replacement fittings (exhaust hanger and securing bolts for under the seat) and that sort of thing that I've not really concentrated on the enjoyment I wanted out of it.

Next year, once the roads have cleared up, I'll be making a serious effort to stop babying the bike and ride the fking thing.

2) Go back to Triumph for servicing as the Street Triple courtesy bike is amazing. The best ride I've had this year was on the Street Triple. I filled the tank and took a good route across Northumberland on it. I felt so carefree, and the bike encouraged such confidence in it's handling, it was pure joy on the back roads I took it on. I've never had a bike over so far. I'll go back for some more of that. It also had the dramatic effect of making my bike feek like a rocketship when I got back on it.

Biking holiday somewhere. Not sure were I want to go. Either Scotland (bloody long way from me though in Dorset) or France/Spain as never been to Spain and not been to France for 10 years or so.

Moved up to the inters this year but only got 2 days in due to work etc. Get more of that this year.
Didn't get to use it to commute as much on it as I like due to chauffeuring the bloody in laws. Change that!
Buy my mates blade. Probably....
Get a few more runs out as I didn't even really do that this year... God sake.
Maybe get to the uk for a track day....

I did the Great Ocean Road back in '97. Staying in Geelong as it was the only campsite with space between the Christmas and new year, everywhere else we tried was heaving

About 25 miles after the 12 apostles, we came across a diversion that took us about 10 miles on a dust track. Not much fun 2 up on a fully laden bmw R100RT. We later found the road had been closed due to 4 deaths on the road in 2 separate incidents

Sell the VFR

Put the CX back on the road

Wheelie school would be nice

At least one long distance jaunt with my brother. Might have to keep the VFR for that

Buy another project

It's a 93 FP. There's a "build" thread on here somewhere. It's 99% finished so I'll probably sell it next spring. I say that every autumn about my bikes though, come spring I'll probably change my mind. Depends on what other project I can pick up.

Get the bike fully refreshed after a season of road races, extract a bit more power from the old girl and then sit patiently waiting for the season to start again. 2017 is going to be a season with more Irish national road races entered, the Ulster GP again, Oliver's Mount again and then see what else we can squeeze in!

I have noticed quite a few people toying with doing a track day. All I can say is do it! It will be an eye opener in the best possible way and make you question riding on the road.
