2017: Bikey goals
Discussion
1/ Enjoy the VFR 800 I've got on order (delivery this weekend hopefully)
2/ Improve my riding massively-planning on doing the IAM bike course. I find myself getting very frustrated when my cornering lines aren't perfect or I cock something else up!
3/ Do my first mini-tour/road trip on said VFR-I fancy going to see the WW1 battlefields in northern France.
4/ Not come off.

Not as exciting or as glamourous as most but my goals are to finish resto on Raleigh Chopper (frame away for blasting/painting now)!
Sort carburation/set up on RD500.
Replace GSXR with a mint, more upright bike for as little over £1,500 as possible.
Do more miles on the KR1 in 2017..(not much over 100 this year)
Get as many rides in with my Dad as possible.

This winter I'm going to fit Goodridge front brake lines to the R1 as I miss the feel that I used to get on my GSXR600 that had them fitted.
Next year, plans are:
1. Don't fall off.
2. Do a Rospa (or similar) course in the evenings to satisfy the wife that I am capable of riding sensibly.
3. Enjoy the newly ridiculously down-geared R1 (total opposite to the previous point).

I've not ridden a motorbike for about 3 years!
I had a 1999 ZX6R G2 originally that I parked up in the garage as it needed extensive work, fork seals, brakes stripping, valve clearances and carb balancing in the quest to cure a rough running issue. While it was laid up I decided I'd had enough of carburettors and old tech and bought myself a 2001 GSXR 600 K1 to use, the plan being to sort the Ninja out and sell it on.
Used the gixxer for a couple of years, a few trackdays and a 'ring trip, until MOT time came around and I didn't bother putting it in as I knew it needed a front tyre, wheel bearing and some work done on the brake levers. Then my circumstances changed and I had a lot less time and money all of a sudden and that has stood next to the Kwak ever since, at some point they've both been punted out of the garage and into the rain under covers so I dread to imagine how much work they're both going to need to get going again, I think I might have two complete restoration projects on my hands!
So I've said this the past couple of years but I'm determined this time to get them both in the garage (which is an old farm building which I've extended and renovated this year) and get both the bikes and myself back to our former glory!

1) Another tour of Scotland - it's the annual tradition now.
2) I'd like to fit in a tour to France or Spain, but coming from Scotland adds a day each end so I need to free off a chunk of time for that.
3) Get the GPz1100 back on the road, and then maybe sell it...
4) ...and get something else to restore. I've a hankering for a Commando to rebuild like the one I had as a yoof.
5) I'll be back up to Thunder in the Glen again - yes yes it's full of Harleys, but it's a great fun event and the only bikey thing the Mrs comes with me to.
6) and just do more miles - I seem to be averaging 6000 miles a year (I don't use the bike to commute, so that's just touring/runs/fun), so I'll see if I can improve on that in 2017.
