Hazard a guess it will be even more stupid or non quotable for my East London address lol.

I'm paying £600 a year for a 2011 Speed Triple.. almost mid 40s, clean license, no claims last 5 years but no garage and East London postcode.
You must live in the middle of nowhere to get a paniR for £600 wink

So just to be clear, you're asking for a quote on a specialist bike, and you've approached non-specialist insurers and you're surprised they aren't reasonable?

I think the fact 28/30 odd insurers won't quote, and the other two are just throwing you big numbers so you sod off gives some indication it's a specialist job!

I don't know, cost of parts, supply chain, lead times of handmade parts and the potentially enormous cost of compensatory hire, I'd argue it would be much more a headache than a custom bike made in some warehouse from bits of dead Jap bikes.

I initially read the thread title as Arai insurance and was suitably confused! smile

Look at the frame on the Ariel. It's massively exposed so almost any accident or damage means a new frame. I'd imagine that's what it's based on. Maybe contact Ariel and see who they recommend for insurance?

I must just be old. My quote from Bennett's fully comp for an Ariel Ace was £172. £450 excess.

I think you're doing something wrong or the insurers you tried just don't want your business..

I would be surprised if it was much more than £500 unless you've got some skeletons in your closet.

E14 mate.. suggest I'm in a worse insurance postcode than you at IG2. From that postcode list from what I remember only rating category above mine is refer to underwriter! Having just checked yes I am correct yours is E mine is F!

Yep agreed pretty much nothing in reality between risk E and F.
So you're Gants Hill / Newbury Park ish area by stations then I'm guessing?
I always used to goto the Hein Gericke at Gants Hill which is now J&S

To make you feel worse (sorry) I should have clarified full NCB for myself too for my current premium too.

I don't see any harm in containing Ariel. Explain that you're considering the Ace, but an £8k insurance premium would rule it out.
As a small manufacturer I'm sure they'll happily give you some suggestions for a reasonable insurer.

That's still very high. I'm early fifties, so old, with NW kent postcode and the S1000RR was £168 protected. I think it must be down to your postcode

You win with a garage.. that will overrule any savings in premium via NCB alone in my view!

By the way, I grew up in the IG1 postcode area, and this thread reminds me how happy I am living out in the heart of the shire counties.

I found that....they need to have a re-design around the thigh area. My legs hurt after 30 seconds!

I just checked for myself and it's only £1750 at 22 with 2 years no claims.

They must really hate you.

Are you asking for commuting on it? That always buggers up my quotes.

Have you tried the other comparison site or flux?

I pay £1000 for my Tuono v4 and hornet together so the £1750 is in line with the rest roughly.
