Just after the IRA bombing in Manchester, when I worked in an office opposite Bootle St Police Station my mountain bike (Raleigh Maverick!) was pinched despite being chained to a lamp post. The armed police sentry said, "Oh yes, I saw a van stop there and wondered what they were up to."

A London bike needs to be a late 90's early 2000 sport bike or the something like a Bandit or SV.

Unless you have access to secure parking.

Indeed, until Sadiq the tt forces us all into more expensive, newer bikes to line the thieves pockets.

This forcing people into new bikes, vans, trucks and cars must be the stupidest idea ever.

How effing green is that.

My BMW does about 20mpg, is petrol and I've had it since I bought it almost new back in 1998.

That is what I call green motoring.

Sorry, back on topic.

My 97 TRX has managed to avoid being nicked, but that's probably because it always seems to be hemmed in by scooter s

Ultimate security. I'd love to see the faces of some bike thieving scumbags when they realise there's an MP5 being pointed at them...
Slightly off topic but don't they use the G36 now?, would look even scarier to a bike thief!.

Boris started it, but Sadiq will finish it sadly. Precisely the reason the expedited me getting rid of my March 2006 registered Honda blackbird one year ago while it was still worth something. Basically not welcome in central London in 2020 without paying daily. Thieves must be rubbing their hands with glee at the prospect of more up to date choice.

I'm lucky to have free underground secure parking from my employer currently.

With your username, I would assume that you have a better knowledge of current firearm issues than I. That said, this was in relation to an older story, which is why I said MP5 and not G36. Probably...

The only way to "win" would be to have a 2 wheel drive 5Kw electric brompton that you can fold up under your office desk frown

imagine, empty bike/motorbike bays all over london.. nothing to nick at all
the crooks wouldn't know what to do with themselves hehe

Not so much actually, but when it comes to throwing the ringer full of dirty undies I'm your guy.
