I'm paying £500 for the Tuono, should be down to £370 next renewal - if I was to remove commuting that would bring it down to £300 but I enjoy the odd friday summer commute.
FYI, the odd commute isn't classed as commuting. If you do it every day, that's commuting. Once a month, not so.
I didn't bookmark where I read this, if I can remember I'll post. But have a google. I'd say ask your insurer.

Sorry when i refer to RSV4 i do mean the Tuono V4

You are going to look at one?

If its 'used' would they let you ride it in this stty weather? I would suggest booking a test ride on one at Wheels as they have a line of them outside waiting to be ridden. POP off the A1 and have a go. There is no doubt that you will love it.

Hmm, that's interesting... I would probably do 2/3 commutes a month max, only on a nice sunny warm Friday during the summer. Will have a look into that, cheers thumbup

I'm just at the stage now where bikes like the Tuono v4 and sportbikes like Ducati 848 are reasonable for insurance, i.e. £600 or less. I've had my licence 2 years now and have a couple of years NCD on the CB400 and a year on the Tuono.

35, decent postcode (not bad but not amazing), with one zero value accident which has made all of about £5 difference.

I'm paying £500 for the Tuono, should be down to £370 next renewal - if I was to remove commuting that would bring it down to £300 but I enjoy the odd friday summer commute.
Im 34 (35 in July) and paid £150 a year fully comp on the MV Dragster RR but as soon as I went to the Tuono 1100 Factory it went to £290 fully comp. Thats at I think 7-8k p.a, garaged without an alarm social only and with pillion although I rarely take anyone on the back. Only did twice on my MV in nearly 2 years

V4 engine is pants on fuel economy (if you care). Expect an average of 31-34mpg on the computer thingy riding a bit fast and a bit chilled

Best Ive had riding really gentle was about 37mpg worst mid 20's on road only not track

Commuting in the dictionary is; regular travel to a place of work.

The odd Friday in the summer is not regular thus not commuting.
If it was ever driving to work, they'd say that.

An insurer would be hard pushed to argue the odd Friday was regular in court.

My insurance document says:

"travelling between residence and permanent place of work by you" as their commuting definition.

Which I take as if I ride to work once then if I didn't have commuting cover I would be riding without insurance. Nothing about regular use to go to work.

Well that's pretty clear cut then.

Well...

I'm presuming you made a claim, the bike was written off and you got the payout? i.e. the claim has all been settled?

When taking out insurance with a new company they'll need proof of any NCD, which you have right there... whistle

You wont regret it. They are awesome bikes.

The best mods are: Decat and cat, Gabro race ecu (af1 forums), -1 front sprocket, forged wheels from RSV factory/rsv4 if your feeling flush.

Awesome coolbiggrin

Get the exhaust 'de-flappered' if you keep the stock pipe, and get yourself over to RSVR.net and if you're on facebook, join the Aprilia Performance page - Griff and the guys in Tamworth are the go to people when it comes to Aprilias, what they don't know probably isn't worth knowing. There's a wealth of knowledge in the forums and on the facebook page too https://www.facebook.com/groups/225477674861/

I'm off fb now but second about Griff at Aprilia performance knowing his stuff

Also Gabro is well known for his talents in flashing stock ecus

I'm on the aprilia one that has a dedicated tuono section. Taught me about the hidden 12v to 5v USB cable behind the dash, led light conversion amongst many other things

Yep I did notice the same to be fair. Their humour is a little different at times. There are 4-5 regular brits that pop up all in south East which is my area though which is nice as they know the same roads I talk about

Glad you made that choice. I never even started mine before I put an open pipe on it and I'd definitely put yours on with decat. Just makes the vee four sound amazing

You'll see what all the fuss is about now with such a great engine and electronics package to match

Yeah don't bother with the CAT link pipe, get that Ti decat link pipe on there biggrin

Best sounding engine IMO, if I ever change my Tuono in several years I think one of the few contenders will be a V4 1100 Factory biggrin

Oh and if you fancy a change from the black bodywork you can change the pannels so it's the white colour instead. And... the RSV4 tail fits wink

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLwVBW6MPLw

And another upgrade which I believe is worth doing, is replacing the seat with one from the 1100, meant to be much, much more comfortable.
