Its because R1's are for expert, discerning riders who want the very best and are prepared to pay for it....rat840771 said:
My mate got his from here

He then did a cash deal on the Akra, tail tidy and has also bought a different tail unit that covers the horrible rear light. The bike looks and sounds amazing. From memory the akra was around £700
The official price for the exhaust is over £1100, according to the Yamaha UK web site.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-XSR-900-Yellow-60...

I've ridden the previous Speed Triple R and the new 2016 Speed Triple R. I generally am very fond of Triumph (and have 2014 Daytona myself). Speed Triple R is a great bike! It feels like a "manly" bike, and a hooligan, makes you smile.I tried RnineT and did not like it.
S1000R, on the other hand, that is a rocket. Really fast, loud, all the aids you want. Compared to Speed Triple it feels more aggressive, faster, more like a sportsbike...but also more like a tool, like exercise equipment, I had more pleasure riding the Speed Triple R.
I also liked the latest Ducati Monster 1200 R, now that bike reminded me of Speed Triple in terms of making me smile during a ride. It's a great bike, I did not notice any unpleasant vibrations, it starts on the button even when hot, and it is very agile, imho more agile than BMW. Also, it is not as loud as BMW, which for me is a positive.

One of my lot is selling his triumph speed triple R at the moment and looking at the Duke monster 1200S 2017 version I tried RnineT and did not like it.

Said he wants something a bit quicker with rider aids but not as mad as the S1000R. Sounds like it does just that
To the OP...if you quite like the RnineT but want something that has a bit more power and better handling, and can do a bit of everything, what about the 2015 R1200R?
Its a handsome bike (to my eyes at least), doesn't make headline grabbing power, but has loads of everyday usable low down grunt, has (or could be optioned with) all the rider aids you might desire, has a range of available seat heights if you're, ahem, slightly vertically challenged and can be kitted or de-kitted for commuting, touring, weekend blats etc...

I'm looking at very similar bikes. Got Triumph and Yamaha dealers near me.Not sold on the new MT-09's looks so was having a good look at the XSR900 (and XSR700 to be fair) and I also quite like the Tracer variants for commuting duties. As a one bike that needs to do it all though I'm not sure the Tracers do it for me.
Went to look at the Street Triple R (on the current model they are throwing in fly screen, belly pan and seat cowl + £600 for clothing/accessories...) and couldn't help but be drawn to the Street Twin/Street Cup. Stunning bikes but only around half the power of the others (Yamaha 700 aside). However, for the way I use bike I'm not sure it's really an issue.
Head says go for the STR with all the extras (and ignore the fact it has been replaced!) for something like £97 a month PCP. That is with Arrow can too.
My thoughts for what it is worth:
Street Twin/Cup - stunning bikes, great to look at and enjoy on a nice day. Maybe a bit too poser-y.
Yamaha XSR900 - love the retro look and for some reason (probably tales about the engine) it excites me the most. Reservations only around the fit & finish. Don't know what your thoughts were but the trim that runs down tank seemed particularly ill-fitting to me.
Tracers - likely to be the most usable and appropriate for 75% of my riding. Would I turn round to look at it though?
Street Triple R - as above really; head says go for it. Heart says I prefer the more retro bikes (have an air cooled Monster currently).
I also love the Hypermotard/strada and like you am drawn more towards the 'strada nowadays. I am also far from offended by the Scrambler range and the new Desert Sled and Cafe Racer (?) look interesting.
Fairly sure the Z800 has a 0% deal at the moment but it's a bike I've not given much thought to/know much about.
All in all I suppose the agonising choice of so many great bikes is something we should all be pleased about!
ETA £9,400 for the new Scrambler variants! No chance!

I goto http://www.sondelyamaha.co.uk/ have had mt09, mt09 tracer and mt10 demos off them. When I was there last year they had xsrs too.Friendly guys give them a call/try. I'm in E14 so near the blackwall tunnel its not far once you're through the tunnel.
looks amazing, not sure about the comfort due to the drop handlebars but won't loose much money if you can get your hands on one!
