Its a false economy to use 'cheap' boots for daily commuting I worked that out years ago after working out I wasted £120 on a pair of Fr(W)ank Thomas Gore Tex boots - the gear change pad holed in less than 12month commuting and that was that. Hence dropping £200+ on 4 pairs of Daytona Roadstar GTX so far. These boots are circa £300 now if you incorrectly pay UK price without buying direct from a german supplier. They are going for around £260-270 on ebay last time I checked
Its the only boot that fits me properly and I can get multiple daily year round use out of. I on average get 3 to 3.5 years out of every pair before they're fully mullered. Either sole is worn away or something fails on the goretex liner and they start letting in water somewhere - sometimes the two are connected.
Daytona will re-sole any of their boots for way less than the price of a new pair. Just return it to the selling dealer who will arrange the repairs. Worth thinking about before buying abroad in preference to an official UK retailer (who will probably match the price anyway).

The last time I asked about this the price was about £160. I'd expect it's even more now.Worth thinking about before buying abroad in preference to an official UK retailer (who will probably match the price anyway).

I looked into repairs before and found the overall costs counter productive for a triggers broom repaired boot.Hence I buy from germany for a cheaper price and once the boots are kaput I buy new again.
My boots are seriously second hand by the time I stop using them - I would usually need extra items beside the resole too.. goretex liners usually around the heal/toe areas usally go, gear change pad area on the left boot etc.
My boots have to be 100% waterproof too otherwise they are of little use to me.
I'm sure its not £15 to replace a main boot zip either anymore - I had one fixed this way after I bought my first pair from J&S for £200 in the early 2000s

Got 8 years on my Daytonas and the only thing to go on them have been the tag connected to the zip, otherwise still fully function and look alright still. It shows you get what you pay for.
On the Daytona subject any recommend place to buy them. No store local to me sells them They also matched another website that was selling them cheaper and actually adjusted their price online in minutes before I placed the order.
Easy
Bought a pair of the cheap Richa boots last Feb :
https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/...
They're still serviceable but the outer leather and suede has started cracking / coming off. The soles are also showing significant wear down to the point of starting to hole.
Like the OP wear doesn't seem to tally with I'd consider the main wear points are. e.g right boot is much worse but spends the least time on the ground etc etc.
Picked up a pair of Alpinestars https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/... in September to take over daily duties.
So far so good - but I'm not overly convinced they'll last much better.
At which point I'll need to do the sums on whether getting 9-12 months out of cheap boots and replacing is better than getting a bit more time out of more expensive foot fodder.

Bought mine from Sportsbikeshop. First pair didn't quite fit. Easy & free return, requested the new size on the online return form, received 2 days later. No hassle.

I bought a lot from there now due to it, and will continue to.
I have had my Sidi ST goretex for a year and 16,000 miles now, few scuffs but in good shape, and I wall a bit in them too.
I'm to poor to buy cheap st, I need it to last.

My sidi vertigos? are 6 and a bit years old and are just coming up for replacement as the sole is becoming mirror like but the rest of the boot apart from the zip tabs (replaced with paperclips) have held up fine and they have been used in all weathers and a crash I'll post pictures when I get home if you like
THanks for the replies everyone. Very interesting indeed but in the main, opinion seems to be they shouldn't be this buggered after 9 months.
I also have trousers and jacket from the pro-series of which both have started to fall apart. The vendor sent them off for warranty repair or exchange and they have been replaced but given this was the second jacket I had since March (the first was not waterproof!) I have lost faith with the brand and am swapping for something else.
The vendor's supplier claim that's wear and tear and won't replace them. I understand and accept wear and tear but seriously, worn out after 9 months is a pretty poor show hence my poll. Want to show what the public's general perception of how long something should last is.
It was a long time between bikes (2002 - 2016) so I am not clued up on brands etc. I went into the Vendor's big shop with a very specific brief that I would be commuting and needed kit that would be suited to all weather conditions and that would last. This is what I was advised and therefore what I bought. My point here is the vendor has sold me kit that is not suited to the purpose required. Aside from perhaps the initial advice, they've been brilliant to be fair. Had loan kit while mine was away and they are happy to take the replacement RST jacket and boots back into stock allowing me to swap for alternatives. Just still arguing about the boots.

I'm a bit of a fair weather biker, & my commute is only 6 miles, even if I take the scenic route! However, I do around 8k miles PA. Alpinestars ankle high boots are around 4 years old & still OK.
Off topic: I'm looking for some enduro/adventure boots which would be OK for light off-roading/green laning. not much mud involved & probably not when its raining (I'm old & brittle).... I've looked at Alpinestars Tech 1 & also these, which may not provide enough protection: https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/...
