I've ridden all 3.

Own the 990 SMT.

Tiger is well made, decent suspension but heavy.

Tracer is superb all round however finish was too cheap for me, despite it riding well I personally couldn't spend money on one.

KTM had the best suspension of the lot, stonkkng brakes, but it is a bit rabid.
As someone else said, dosnt really do relaxed, loads of engine braking, and a flighty front end mean your always riding like your on a mission. It's in a different league to the other 2 for my kind of riding. Although as I'm sure others would hate it.

I'm a self confessed KTM addict though so my view is biased.

I try to ride mine casually and just commute like a normal person, it lasts about 5 minutes until there is a gap in the traffic and progress is made. It's irresistible. Calling them hooligan bikes is properly apt, it's not possible to ride one unlike a hooligan.

I'm fortunate in having the old Fazer for daily use, keeping the KTM for fun and trips, so it doesn't bother me so much as it might, but hooligan is right. Showing off at the lights by hoisting the front has never been so tempting/fun/easy tongue out

I keep toying with the idea of changing to a sensible Africa Twin, but then I know I'd miss that silly engine on the SMT..

Ok, so I don't have a Tiger Sport, its a Tiger 1050, and they have done sensible upgrades around this but its still a pretty old bike. Mine is a 2007 and while its nice and suits me well, its a 10 year old bike now. The 1050 has been thoroughly upgraded and swapped around, but its hardly the most modern engine out there though. Its great on distances and the odd commute for me. But I did a group ride recently and one of the guys had an MT-09 - looked way more modern, well built and sounded fantastic with an aftermarket exhaust - and I swear it was better on the roll-on than mine. Significantly stronger and swifter to pile on the revs and I was really impressed. Though again, his was brand new and mine is 10 years old.....

I am a tempted to the Yamaha to be honest. Its a great price and I haven't heard any bad things about them other than a snatchy throttle - which I believe has been fixed - but be warned the old Tiger 1050 and pretty much everything else that had the 1050 has a bad reputation for this too - I think its fixed in the latest Tiger Sport as its got ride by wire throttle, but worth checking if it has. Its a pig when its hot and you are in 10-15 MPH traffic....

The snatchiness was fixed when the Tiger Sport arrived.
