I'm a keen cyclist myself and have been for many years, including well before it was 'cool'. Unfortunately if you live where I live and have to contend with arrogant, aggressive, selfish London road bike clubs in groups clogging up all of the local lanes every weekend, you'd change your view on road cyclists. Add to that the general 'zero fks given' attitude with cyclists in London, I've personally had enough.

It's a victim of its own success. I have no answers to any of the problems, but for me I've given up road cycling completely and sold my road bike, to just mountain biking off road. Driver courtesy has reduced as cyclist aggression and entitlement has risen and I just can't be bothered with the aggro anymore. Better to mountain bike off road and just incur the wrath of the odd bobble hat wearer.
