Can I be so rude as to ask how much the valve clearance service was? These are in my head as my dream next bike but have no idea what the service costs are like. Presumably similar to Ducati…
Roughly £300 for a valve check and oil service. It will be more if any valves are out. I imagine it will be a lot more at a main dealer.

Damn, that's good - especially on a V4 eek

I want to take my Gen2 v-twin tuono up there in the summer for an oil service and suspension linkage check and re-grease, might make a day or 2 of it and go into Wales afterwards.

My local Aprilia main dealer quoted £380 for a big service (valve check) and £160 for the small service, when i was looking at buying a Tuono, that's on 2 less cylinders...

Lovely bikes. Can't wait till the newer ones without the 1990's fork bottoms fall in price.

congrats op - having valve clearances & changing gearing to 15/42 on mine at minute - really fun characterful ownership proposition and great on track - you'll love it

I think I've watched just about every v4 video now... Only thing that's on par is the new R1's I reckon. Such an amazing noise!

My local dealer is £400 for a big V4 service.

I've lusted after one of these bikes ever since I first heard one, many years ago. Finally my time has come, put a deposit on this today and pick her up in a few days. She's a 2009 Factory (pre APRC). The plan is to use her on the road until May, and then convert into a full time track bike. Excited doesn't cover it!

Out of interest what's this like for insurance? Mate of mine had a V4 Tuono and his providers were very insistent that it was an APRC version, cos the ones without were getting written off constantly.

Meant to add; stunning bike and biblical sound! Would have one if I could afford it

Haven't a clue about luggage (although the tail section is tiny and has weird lips and angles) but they're about the most comfortable to ride out of the recent super bikes for taller riders - tall seat, not too much of a reach to the bars and decently placed rear sets.

If you use the throttle you'll be stopping for fuel every 90-100 miles anyway wink

You'd fit a US20 on the pillion seat I think, and then could put a pair of US10"s either side.

Might need to supplement it with a rucksack of you need more space, unless you're camping 40l plus a tank bag should be fine.

Hepco and Becker do what is basically an ally plate which replaces the pillion seat pad which you can fasten a bag, soft panniers or whatever

They are on e bay

That's one plus about the gen2 tuono/RSV, loads of room for luggage.

That's a US30 on mine, on the optional huge pillion seat.

It was only marginally more than the RSV 1000 R Factory it replaced

She cleans up well...

Rear linkage needs stripped down and the bearings checked, after that it's all fun stuff (fitting new parts) smile

Someone on here mentioned being 5'8" and worried about seat height... They are tiny bikes, way smaller than my old RSV, it's tall people that don't get on with them

Be worthwhile replacing those Aprilia quick release coolant hose clips with regular jubilee clips mate, especially if you're tracking it; they're very prone to leaks, I had a couple go whilst I owned mine and it's quite common apparently.
