I wouldn't worry about grip in fast group on M7RR's I had no issues at all with them. Even when it was over 20 degrees I was expecting the guys on Supercorsas to leave me in the corners but there was never a noticeable difference. I was always amazed that they were ready and warmed up before the end of the first lap.

No problems in the fast group at Brands on M7RRs. Supercorsas and Racetec K3s are just st 90% of the time on the road. The Rosso 3s are ok, but not as good as M7RRs and wear roughly the same. If fast road and mix of track in warm dry only, I still rate the Diablo Rosso Corsas as the best tyre out there for that, but not as versatile as the M7RRs and I destroy rear DRCs in under 1200 road miles usually unfortunately. Get nearly twice that out of an M7RR with barely any compromise.
You sound similar to me. I thought the rosso corsa were a decent tyre to be fair. First lap of the mountain they chewed a bit but good wear and I got 1200 miles at the mountain with still about half left on them

This is a 200 rear after 1 mountain lap having scrubbed it in on the ride upto it. To the op these are like 3DP said a good tyre

Ive come to realise that unless its 15 degress+ and dry K3 and Supercorsa SPs arnt worth a cold cup of piss

Cold tyre spin ups just aren't fun, which you get in the cold, when the tyres are cold with K3s I've found. They are very dead feeling as well, unless toasty and on their sides. The Diablo Rosso Corsas are ace and get really nice and warm in the summer. They have a nice road profile as well, but with a majority of road work, the M7RRs are better. If you are doing quite a few track days in with your road miles, the DRCs are best.

On my 1198, like Birky_41's they grain up nicely on the road you could wheelie whilst still with a fair amount of lean exiting corners. Mad stuff with 1198 grunt and DRC grip.

Thanks all for replies so far. M7RR certainly seems to be a solid choice although looks like that PR4 held up well! Bike is a 2011 Speed Triple
Not done any track work but FYI I've run PR4s for a year on my 2011 Speed Triple year round all weathers. I appear to have covered 3000 miles on mine now looking at the odo today as I rode mine home from work.
Zero complaints.

Worth noting ... so far in tests the Michelin Power RS is outperforming the competition when compared to Metzler M7RR, Bridgestone S21, etc.

Not surprising given it's a brand new tyre ... I have them fitted but can't really comment yet as I've not done any real mileage and conditions have been poor to push them.

They are black and round though so I'm sure they are fine smile

I put PR4s on my KTM 690 SMR, despite them not being recommended fitment. Suspension has been serviced and set up for me + pillion... It slides about noticeably more solo and I haven't had time to check out different tyre pressures

For me, they are great in the wet, but noticeably less so in cold greasy conditions.. I managed my first ever highside like this..

They do wear too, mine look like they will only last about 5k... On a 65hp single, I deliberately mess about constantly skidding and sliding it, and in the last 1/3 of their life there is noticeably less rear grip, more and more movement in the dry over white lines and over banding.

Great tyres none the less, but tempted to try the Michelin SM tyre next

I've changed bikes a couple of times in the last couple of years and as a result have used various tyres;

2005 R1 on Pilot Power 3s
2009 RSV4F on M7RRs
2015 R1 on Supercorsa SP V2s
2004 ZX636R on Dunlop D208s

I liked the profile on the PP3s as the 05 R1 was quite slow steering and they helped remedy that. Good in all weathers.

M7RRs I absolutely loved, really grippy in all weathers, inspired confidence and were knee-down grippy within a few miles of fitting them. Excellent tyres.

I also really rate the Supercorsas, very grippy in the dry and I've not found them as sketchy in the wet as some reviews suggest. The cold, however, is a different matter; I picked up the R1 from its service last weekend and it was 1 degree and snowing. I initially thought the bike was misfiring but in actual fact it was the rear tyre spinning up in a straight line and the TCS was kicking in. I was probably asking too much of them to be fair. They don't last too well either - I destroyed a rear last summer in a little over 1500 miles and that was 'bits falling off and the cords showing' destroyed.

The D208s were what the Ninja came with and I stuck with them for commuting as they were cheap. They never inspired confidence and I didn't like them. Had the back spin up a couple of times when ridden hard or on cold tyres. That said, a friend of mine who borrowed the bike for group rides had no issue with them and rode it like he'd stolen it so they're not terrible.

In your position, for all year round fast road rides and commuting, I'd go for the M7RRs every time. Im confident you won't fault them.

First dry(ish) ride with the m7rr. I'm not sure if it's just me but although a great all year round tyre they don't give the grip of my supercorsa sp on the back. Never had an issue on the front but blimey I had the back come out a few times today. I think if you are quite 'keen' coming out of corners you may see where these are good upto 8/10th sick I've read before

I need a better dry day ride to be sure... Maybe it was just me

Yep that was me. My group was an MT10, triumph 1050, zx10R and a Duke Pikes Peak

I was knee down on the roundabouts but it really squirmed as I started getting on the gas. I've missed dry tarmac alot!

After going out a minute ago in my VXR (work for vauxhall) and having that spinning a bit too I think it's just the tarmac but I need a good dry run to really see

Sp as good as what track tyre? They are a road carcass and don't need warmers. You'll kill it on track in a day easy but they are good for fast dry summer road (those last 3 words are important) and track days if you're not dedicated

Compare them similar to a conti racetec endurance or metz k3

Anything more grippy I.e sc range k1 or 2 need warmers really and should be kept on track ideally

Hi everyone

- Michelin Pilot Road 4. Extremely well reviewed and would probably be the tyre I go for if I was purely riding on road, not sure how they'd cope on track?

I use PR4s all the time now. Lots of commuting in the wet, which is why I've gone for them, but I've done a few trackdays on mine (Mondello & Mallory) and found them fine on track.

Have had a few slides on them when pushing it in the wet, but they've always just came back to me after a slide, great tyre IMO

They can squirm a bit, but don't let go in my experience. They don't have quite that glued feel of DRCs in my view, but plenty enough grip - Yesterday was 9 degrees and on a new rear M7RR with 20 miles on it, I was high revs, full throttle, high lean in 3rd gear on the Blade, with a little squirming, but hooked up. My Speed Triple can't make them do anything!

The only trouble I've seen is when they are down to their last 2mm on the sides. In Spain on slightly shiny tarmac they slide early, but very progressively.

I think it's partly my tuono is blade power and gives the tyre a hard time. My mv dragster was funny enough almost identical power to a trumpet 1050 and never really moved either

Watch 1.45 to 2.10. I drag a trumpet 1050 onto the mountain at iom and there's bugger all in them https://youtu.be/oKAX6ClBW14 I'm running drc here

I still may put dsc or drc for peak summer but m7rr for rest of the year. The rear went a few times in 2nd as I was banked feeding it on and TC kicked in on every occasion but 3Rd gear like you I never had a single issue... Although it's pretty quick by this point and I'm maybe not as brave as you with the lean angles haha

Think I need to just adjust and realise they won't have that glued feeling I'm used to

That looks nice and pacey! We need to get you out on an early Sunday run smile I'll only take the piss in 2nd on hot days on the M7RRs, but DRCs when warm are amazing on the road - as I said, the 1198's party piece was wheelieing on corner exits whilst still having a load of lean on. That had TC, but I reckon you'd be in the ditch having highsided before it kicked in and cut the power hehe

Put PR4s on the Bandit last summer. I'm afraid I don't have any compariseon but 7200 miles later they're worn in the middle to the stoppers so want replacing. Annoying as the sides are barely worn but that's commuting for you.

I think I should be reasonably pleased with that mileage? Anything out there last longer?
