whats a normal duration for cleaning?
Discussion
I ride a fatboy all year round well all year round if its not to cold or its not raining last year i covered it in AC50 it did what it said on the bottle. When it was time to take it off even with the jet washer set on hot it was a problem this year i bought 6 tins of 600ml WD40 from Amazon £2;50 each bargin. used a can once a month on it it it needed it ie if it rained as riding in a lot of rain will take it off.after leaving it on and putting it on when needed the bike was in a mess jet wash on warm and it came off with no hassel at all reckon i could hve taken it off by hand washing.I wash my bike at least once a month even if it dont rain the bike will get awfully dusty from the road.I use mer gloss on the paint work and chrome and it will stay on after 3 washes when i polish my fatboy it takes me allday start at 9am finish 5pm

Mine?
- Cleaned once a week... if riding in salt then it gets rinsed down with cold water after each ride.
The main reason I clean it weekly is not just to keep it shiny, but it also gives me a chance to eyeball the tyres, brakes, chain, etc. and keep on top of the mechanical jobs... the bike does a couple hundred miles a week so its necessary.
It gets deep cleaned (fairings off) a couple times a year as once it has been cleaned properly keeping it respectable is very easy but then I enjoy it.

I often park my commuter in my clients car parks so I try and keep it looking clean and tidy. Bit like shoes really. Just because I know they're going to get dirty tomorrow it doesn't mean I won't polish them tonight.
OK I gave in!
Put the hose on jet and washed the arse end and underframe which all came off surprisingly easily, was carful not to spray anywhere near the engine, microfibre cloth dryer it where I could reach then sprayed ac-90 to the bits I couldn't get plus the forks and electrical connectors which produced a further torrent of water to dribble out.
It's not mint, but it's clean..er..

Be careful around bearings too, I've heard of several people who reckoned their wheel or swing arm bearings didn't last as long as they should thanks to over zealous use of a power washer.Put the hose on jet and washed the arse end and underframe which all came off surprisingly easily, was careful not to spray anywhere near the engine, microfibre cloth dryer it where I could reach then sprayed ac-90 to the bits I couldn't get plus the forks and electrical connectors which produced a further torrent of water to dribble out.
