Everyone, watch this video
So far it's the best review of the Fireblade that I saw.

I think the new Fireblade does not stray far from what the guy expresses.

That is why I like my 954RR, it allows me to ride "with a clear mind".

I raced Honda's pretty much all my life. Definitely a head not heart bike (in my opinion)

Bloody brilliant and getting the job done and super reliable which made for cheap club racing. They lack a certain something which I guess is the heart bit but if I was going back to competing Id have one in an instant

I only ride italian stuff on road now as I ride for fun, I like the quirks and knowing that if it rains my bike might melt away...
One of my friends club races, he's had a go on my RSV4 and absolutely loves it but said he'd not race one in a million years as you know you can get bits far more easily and need them less on any of the big 4 Japanese bikes.

Rawwr I'd be really interested in hearing what you think of the SP after some post run in time!.

HNNNNNNNNNG!

Just got offered a bike for Saturday but had to decline because... I've seen the weather forecast.

Will now arrive for April 15th.

Genuinely hope the GSX-R spanks everything in that test. I reckon that and the blade will be at the top as far as road riding goes.

Don't discount the Beemer. It's a big roomy bike with heated grips! It also has the POWER and all the electronic trinkets.

Ducati is a soul bike but only for those who are masochists or ride that bike primarily on track.

RSV4RF is another soul bike that also works splendidly on the roads.

Kawa will be last.

MCN review sum up of first day - https://www.facebook.com/MotorcycleNews/videos/101...

Facebook account required.

But in summary, Blade, S1000rr, and Panigale stands out for real world road conditions after the first day. BMW and Ducati due to rider aids and comfy, blade due to flickability on A/B roads.

Panigale? These guys are full of .... besides, I've never seen a more sad/bored/boring bunch of people who just got off the latest 1000cc superbikes!

From MCN test to MCN test that I've seen they either hate 1299 as street bike or like it. They should just be professional, cut off emotions and tell it as it really it - Panigale is NOT a good road bike (that is when you have to do traffic, street lights and warm/hot temperatures. OK, it does warm/dry your butt and legs when it rains...that's it.

GSXR sounds groovy. I look forward to the test ride.

Honda kept their promise - they made a street bike first, race bike second. I test ride SP tomorrow, I go there on my 954RR for comparision.

Here is a truthful review of 1299s (and S1000RR, R1M, RSV4RF, Z10R) on the street and the track:

To be fair you couldn't pick a bad bike amongst any of them, personally my money would go on the Fireblade or R1 but I'd be under no illusions that any of the other bikes weren't as good.

Looks like insurance has become a fatal stumbling block, so I think I'm going to have to cancel the order.

Cheapest option would've been £1,920 and I'm not paying that to insure a bike, not when I've been paying £210. It appears to be completely and utterly toxic with all brokers and underwriters at the moment.

So yeah, f*ck it, sticking with my current Blade now.

The prices for new superbikes are crazy money, £17k for a Fireblade!

I would sit tight and buy a bargain 2nd hand one.

I see in the MCN the dealers lure you in on these PCP deals.

There was a mint 15 plate R1 for sale the other day with all the extras ( akra) 3k miles going for 11K.

I don't understand insurance. Add a pillion and price sometimes goes down. Datatag, alpha dot no difference to price. Also £50 to change some details.

True. When most people in this country will only use them for 6 months a year and 3k miles it's a hell of an outlay.

Over 19K for the SP they are testing, although it won their test.
Basically, reading between the lines, all the bikes (GSXR, ZX10, RSVF) that don't have electronic suspension ended up with the worst ratings.

Really? Quite surprised by that as I figured the Honda dullness factor would get in the way and either the 1299 or S1000RR would top it.

For anyone that cares the order was

Fireblade SP(19K)
Panigale 1299S(22K)
S1000RR (light wheels fitted)(17K)
R1M(19K)
GSXRR(16K)
RSVF(20K)
ZX10(17K)

The BMW offers a lot for the money based on their test.
I'm hoping for something different when Performance Bikes do their test (I put a deposit down on a GSXR near two years ago, but can't help thinking if I had any sense I'd be getting a Street Triple RS or a Ducati Supersport S in white)

Yep thats why my track bike is Japanese! When I crash it I can rebuild it without remortgaging and know the parts arrive quick

Yeah, i nearly bought a new GSXR last year on 0%, but went for a mint 07 model for half price as i couldn't live with paying £100 a month for the toy to sit in the garage most of the time.

Every time i ride my bike i'm relieved when i get home safely and await any potential speeding fines for the next few days. It is impossible not to speed on the bloody thing and there are so many frigging camera's dotted about and also those bell ends with their dashcams!
