Problem solved. McApe told me to try Bemoto in Peterborough and they provided a quote for £472, which is stunning!

For anyone that cares the order was

Fireblade SP(19K)
Panigale 1299S(22K)
S1000RR (light wheels fitted)(17K)
R1M(19K)
GSXRR(16K)
RSVF(20K)
ZX10(17K)

The BMW offers a lot for the money based on their test.
I'm hoping for something different when Performance Bikes do their test (I put a deposit down on a GSXR near two years ago, but can't help thinking if I had any sense I'd be getting a Street Triple RS or a Ducati Supersport S in white)
1299S for the street biggrin
I don't need to know more about this "test".
These people are full of s.

I'm amending this. I rode the Ducati today and it didn't do much for me. I think it needs to be your only bike, where its' versatility would be the clincher. Personally I am currently in the position where I have a tweaked GSXR750L2 and a tweaked Street Triple R. Having ridden the Supersport I think two bikes works for me.
I'm test riding the new RS triple next week.

You know when you take out insurance and you never read the small print? It's the same when you take advice and recommendations from me!!!! It's a binding contract.

I want the answer to the real question;

Is it all new insurance or is it old insurance made to look new?

I really don't understand the argument of 'it's not 100% new so it's rubbish'. All the latest super bikes are superb in their own way and far more capable than 99% of the riders that swing a leg over them. IIRC the RSV4 doesn't have a new chassis either and there's a reason for that; because it's superb as it is.

The reason the GSXR is all new is because the last model was SO outdated.

I'm sure the SP is fabulous, it won't suit everyone but it clearly suits the OP and that's what matters. A good friend of mine owns the S1kRR, it's a brilliant bike but I prefer the R1. I certainly wouldn't be disappointed if I owned the BMW tho, they're both great in their own way.

The reviews above are interesting but they're all driven by advertising revenues, none of them are impartial and they'll all try and tell you the bike they waxed lyrical over 12 months ago is now a decrepit POS because if the manufacturers don't sell new bikes, they don't buy advertising or loan bikes and eventually the mags go out of business. You can't trust any of them. Ride all the bikes in your budget and buy the one you like. Simples.

Usually evidenced when you get to the end of said review and find the 'best' bike is less than 0.1s quicker round whatever track they are using than the next bike and perhaps less than a second quicker than the slowest. This obviously matters not a jot in reality to most buyers if they are honest, any more than them noticing any differerence in braking between the Brembo 4.32's on their current bike and the M50's on the new one.
However, maybe this time there is something that matters. Electronic suspension, which now appears to be becoming the must-have feature, and if Honda have cracked this with a system that genuinely gives non-racers a bike that works on the road and on a trackday then maybe it really does deserve some accolades.

It's a fair point re the active suspension and you may well be right. I'd still be dubious as to whether those small gains are actually accessible to the average rider. Many riders will be roughly the same speed through a set of bends regardless of what bike they're on (similar power assumed) as the limiting factor is them, not their machinery.

That's good news martin, I was a bit gutted for you when I saw the price of your first Insurance quote.

Me too! Was told yesterday that the bike arrives at the dealer on Thursday, so going to to try and hurry them along to see if they can do anything to allow me to collect on Saturday. Damn Good Friday.

Looks like I'm on for Tuesday 18th, which is a bit of a bummer that I won't have it for the easter weekend but that can't be helped, I guess.

I would go for the 'budget' GSXR and save 5k ( if i had the money)

It was interesting as last week i was at BSD in Peterborough and they have had 9 of the new GSXR's in as they are not producing the claimed power and Suzuki GB are a bit baffled by it from what i understand, they are giving BSD a bike to play with and see what they can do. I'm sure once all that euro 6 gubbins is removed and will be amazing and fully unleash it's potential.

They will probably have to map with all euro 6 in place but i am sure they will also map without euro 6!

Same problem with the RG 500's back in the 1980's. The customer bikes never seemed to be on par with the press bikes.

I notice on the MCN review video that Mark from BSD did the dyno run on all the bikes.
