Thanks smile

Yeah, in the showroom they had the new RR next to the old one. The old one looks so FAT.

Great choice OP

Re the subframe , what's the crack ?

Not seen one in the flesh but when you look at pictures of the sp it
appears to show the lugs on the subframe which you bolt the rear pegs to
as on the standard rr

Are the subframe lugs for bungee hooks??

If the bikes good enough for Mcdrink & GM, then it's good enough yes

Congrats on the purchase. Be sure to post lots of lots of gratuitous pics when it arrives.

Some quick pics from Sunday. Yes, thankfully you can change the background image in the dash from that god awful brushed steel look thing.

Lovely bike congrats!, I'm thinking about upgrading to one myself but then I've heard Ducati are bringing out a V4 super bike next year, so can't decide wether to get a Fireblade or hold off another year.

Congratulations on the new bike!
Fireblade was always one of the best, if not the best, street bikes.
That is why I will keep my 954RR as long as possible.

Still...
I was not overly impressed by SP that I sat on at an exhibition. It's a nice bike, but I did not like the soft plastic covers of gas tank (felt flimsy and cheap) and the little plastic covers on the frame (should have been metal).
Aprilia RSV4RF felt more solid all over and its polished frame and swingarm looked more expensive than those on SP, even though SP was more expensive in terms of price.
Also the headlights of SP, reminds a lot of Ducati. Should have been more of 2006-2007 Fireblade style, imho.

Finally, Fireblade has same frame and same engine as before, dropped 10kg just because of removal of c-abs and not something really new, only added electronic rider aids. Now look at GSXR1000 - new frame, new engine, new technologies. And it is stronger, and cheaper, and the exhaust can can be easily replaced dropping kilos of weight. THAT bike is really exciting!

That bloke from Louth. smile
His mate has just got one on the scales 8 litres of fuel onboard 189kg.
That's in road spec with lights mirrors etc, as ridden in.

It's going to be turned straight into a race bike, but thought Rawwr might be interested.

Engine upgraded with higher specification materials = same engine, lighter parts. 11hp extra. Same engine = check.
Chassis - new electronic suspension, thinner frame walls. Same frame = check.

Now, GSXR. NEW engine, NEW frame, NEW suspension, MotoGP technology. 200hp. In the latest comparisons the old GSXR1000 still comes out in top three as the comfortable street bike. GSXR1000R cheaper than SP.

I like Fireblade and had 2 of them, still have one, and two CBR600 as well. Best looking Fireblade to me - 2006-2007 version.
But I am not a fanboy.

Well now you've told me all that, I'm going to cancel my order. I didn't realise when I test rode it that it was so old and awful.

Different != same.

You said "Finally, Fireblade has same frame and same engine as before, dropped 10kg just because of removal of c-abs and not something really new"

But that clearly isn't the case.

It's a nice UPDATED bike. Nothing really new on it except ADDITIONS on the old stuff, 10(!)kg off with simple removal of c-abs, Ohlins gen2 suspension, some Bosch aidz like all the rest.

R1 last year, GSXR1000 this year - these are new from ground up.
RSV4RF - feels solid, looks better than SP, cheaper than SP, and has V4.

R1M is more expensive than SP but looks...not good.
GSXR1000 is cheaper than SP, looks not bad at all (I only saw the fabulous motogp blue, but I actually prefer the black with blue wheels and fork).
RSV4RF - marvelous, not sure about quality.
