Engine upgraded with higher specification materials = same engine, lighter parts. 11hp extra. Same engine = check.
Chassis - new electronic suspension, thinner frame walls. Same frame = check.
Different != same.

You said "Finally, Fireblade has same frame and same engine as before, dropped 10kg just because of removal of c-abs and not something really new"

But that clearly isn't the case.
It's a nice UPDATED bike. Nothing really new on it except ADDITIONS on the old stuff, 10(!)kg off with simple removal of c-abs, Ohlins gen2 suspension, some Bosch aidz like all the rest.

R1 last year, GSXR1000 this year - these are new from ground up. And Honda has the biggest budget of them all!
RSV4RF - feels solid, looks better than SP, is cheaper than SP, and has V4.

R1M is more expensive than SP but looks...not good.
GSXR1000 is cheaper than SP, looks not bad at all (I only saw the fabulous motogp blue, but I actually prefer the black with blue wheels and fork).
RSV4RF - marvelous, not sure about quality.

954 is just splendid!
Yes, it has funky response around 3000rpm, but I rode it back-to-back with 2014 RSV4 Factory and the handling was the same!
The only bike I can go on the edge of front tyre with and not break a sweat is 954RR, it's just so friendly and easy.
It looks super, I had people take photos of it while I was sitting at red light. Mine (except for numberplate holder) is stock as well, I actually like the look of the original exhaust.
954RR has amazing light cluster, small parking lights, middle main light, two high beam lights. All symmetric. And it does not look like Ducati either. 330mm front brakes, not Brembo but so powerful it's crazy. 150hp? It's a street bike, I did not feel embarrassed by a couple of 2015 S1000RR when I was riding Swiss Alps.

954RR is the last Baba 900.
New Fireblade is just one in a line.

Yes, different but the same.
R1 is NOT the same as previous R1, GSXR1000 is NOT the same as previous GSXR1000.
Do you actually UNDERSTAND the difference?

The 2017 Fireblade SP is fantastic!
I like how they made the fairing go all the way back to rear wheel, a-la-954RR. I missed that on the new GSXR1000. I am sucker for full-plastic-cover looks. :-)

I was expecting new Fireblade with such impatience...I was surprised that I was underwhelmed when I actually saw it.
IMHO, RSV4RF is the most soulful superbike, GSXR1000 is the new NEW superbike to sample. SP is a safe (and expensive) choice.

A 954 Fireblade is just the same as any nigh on 20 year old Japanese Superbike, extremely capable and efficient, nothing more though.

If it is indeed the last of the baba bikes then it should be spelt FireBlade as Honda changed the B for a b after he left the team.

The new Fireblade is a proper weapon with a lot of engineering and electronics mated with up to date styling, not as good looking as the outgoing model in my opinion.

I know about the "B", I read the history, thank you very much.
"Nothing more"...maybe, it is not the best at 3000rpm in terms of throttle response, it is very quiet with stock can (good for my long trips!), but it is comfortable like few modern superbikes, it is easy to fix also, and it steers around bends like any modern bike sans electronic aidz. It's not a Ducati in terms of in-your-face excitement, but it is not a bh around city (or any kind of) traffic either. It has a lot to give for the price! I want to see current crop of electronic wonders in 20 years.

New Fireblade is weapon because of electronics. Hehe. :-) Well, they all have (almost the same, Bosch) electronics these days, all are "weapons". Some have 5-axis IMU (oh my god, how backward!!!) some have six. Honda has new approach to setting electronic suspension, they call it easier, I call it dumbed down, but whatever. Honda is first with gen2 Ohlins...next iteration of Panigale will have the same or updated, and anyway does not make much difference on the road.

In the end...I rode previous FIreblade with full Bazzazz suit, great quickshifter, choppy throttle, felt wide like an oil pipe. Looks like a whale. Without stock exhaust has holes like someone missing a tooth. NOT exciting. I rather like my 954RR.
I rode R1 - disgusting choppy throttle, average looks, ugly collector. Felt like 600 and I knew I would lose licence, limbs or life on that thing as it was begging me to go faster in sweeping turns.
I rode RSV4 Factory, steers like Daytona 675, great sound, beautiful machine, left a great impression on me, but I was worried about the italian build quality and parts supply. Still RSV4RF is the bike of my dreams!
I rode 1299S Panigale a few times, disgusting in any type of traffic (loud, hot, heavy clutch), but on the free mountain hairpins I was sweating excitement, what an amazing character!
BMW S1000RR...as soon as the excitement of the immense power wore off it was generic to me. But heated grips from the factory is a brilliant touch!
GSXR1000...I have K6, it looks rough, it sounds like a tractor at idle, but has smooth throttle and great mid-range torque, easy steer, I love it, I can't wait to test ride the new Gixxer!

Gixxer, exactly, it has a sweet name, like your daughter or maybe even wife.
Aprilia is Ape.

Fireblade is Blade. Generic like their suspension settings Corner/Brake/Accelerate *plonk*

I've just got a new R1 (it's actually a 2016 model but it was new IYSWIM) and I think it looks the dogs bolleaux - however it is the 60th anniversary jobbie with the yellow paint and speedblocks with Akrapovic pipes. I have to say that the blue and red paintschemes are very subdued and do it no favours.

Throttle response - can't say as I've only been able to ride it three times as it keeps raining. It's really, really hard to ride at legal speeds though, and no matter what speed you do it feels like it's crawling. Could do with the gearing lowering a lot. This is a bit of a pain in the arse as for insurance reasons (I had a bike stolen early April 2014 and banged my car last November) I absolutely cannot afford to get a single point on my licence frown

As with the new Fireblade - it is tiny, you can really see it when it's parked next to my 2000 R1, however it feels very spacious when you're on it and I'm 6'3".

It's also really nicely built and I can tell it's a "keeper" (I'm 49 and this will be my last sportsbike purchase, I won't get rid of it). I never got that feeling with the MV F4 it replaces.

Sort of sums up the last 2 pages.

Enjoy the bike - looks good! Much prefer silver framed bikes to ones with black so the SP models would be my choice on that alone.

Now, GSXR. NEW engine, NEW frame, NEW suspension, MotoGP technology. 200hp. In the latest comparisons the old GSXR1000 still comes out in top three as the comfortable street bike. GSXR1000R cheaper than SP.

I like Fireblade and had 2 of them, still have one, and two CBR600 as well. Best looking Fireblade to me - 2006-2007 version.
But I am not a fanboy.
Why does it matter if it's all brand new designs or not? The old Fireblade still had the best chassis in its class, and I'd argue even now it still does. It's lighter, more powerful, and faster. What more do you want? rolleyes
