Surely if they have given you the opportunity to plead guilty by post, the likelihood is 3 points and a £100 fine, it just becomes an administrative exercise really.
"guilty, right, no court case, great, give him the points, next".
If you show up, trying to justify riding on the pavement with pedestrians, a mother and her Mclaren pram present whilst you ride almost half a football pitch your fked.
Maybe there is a loop hole, or the lawyer could argue how your very, very sorry and it will never happen again....The judge who has likely sat through hours of wee fannies before you wont really care too much about dishing out a few penalty points. If anything, maybe more as you are wasting his time.
Don't get me wrong you can do yourself a huge favour showing up, dressed smart and showing respect, that alone lessens any sentence. But when you offset it with legal costs, day off work and the fking hassle, id take the post option everyday.
If you go to court a big factor will be the luck of the draw. Have you ever been to court, stood there at the other end of a judge? Some don't fk about and are "bds" others are "sound" to quote a few sweating junkies coming down whilst awaiting in the court cells once the judge for the day was announce through the dinner slot in the door. These guys knew if they were going home or to jail that day due to the judge, you wont know till your there.

Chatting to him today ... also when I read through the pack in the "key evidence" bit there is this random line "the defendant undertook a police car , which was travelling at the speed limit of 50 mph and travelling in lane 3 of 3" ..http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/profile.asp?h=0...

now the whole area is a 30 limit so that line is not evidenced and 100% wrong.

I don't get this:
The rider does something wrong, and admits it.
Cyclist calls him on it.
Some of you say the Cyclists is in the wrong? But if it was a cop that would be OK?
I do sometimes do something wrong, if you catch me then that is on me. I would not cry like a girl and blame the 3rd party.
(note the original poster is NOT doing this)

I guess my point is that historically I had to look out for old bill, yellow cameras, traffic cameras etc .....with the advent of dashcamera's and helmet cameras anyone anywhere can potentially shop us so you are always under threat of moderation in this world. That is my lesson. It doesn't mean I will start using my helmet camera evidence against car drivers with mobiles ... especially when I can take the train cos its potentially less hassle than all this guff. The rider does something wrong, and admits it.

If only your face had been caught on CCTV nicking tools out of the back of a van you'd have been OK.

I'm not sure "I was late for work" is ever a good thing to use as a mitigating circumstance
Lol! Reminds me of my first ever offence - a TS50 in the early noughties for driving along a bus lane in my 205. The Magistrates asked if I had anything to say for myself and I said 'if I'd known it would cause this much bother, I wouldn't have done it'.
What an arrogant idiot!!!!

spoke to these people whitedalton/motordefence .. they do £60 for 20mins on the phone ... but then pleading guilty at court is £750 + vat fixed fee ...not guilty is £160 per hour + vat and a chunk of hours ....now the whole area is a 30 limit so that line is not evidenced and 100% wrong.
