As an example, I've been looking at Futuras.
A mate of mine crashed his Futura and the replacement tank took almost TWO YEARS to arrive from Italy. It was something like £1500 + vat too yikes
We had another thread discussing the awesome virtues of Aprilia ownership - I owned the sister Falco model from new 2000- mid 2004, the Sport Touring version of the RSV basically. 3.5 years of largely disappointed ownership with repeated ancillary part failures. I needed replacement footpegs.. which had been redesigned because the orginals although metal had almost zero grip in the wet and wore out. I remember the main dealer cancelling the order after a number of months. I ended up getting some of a bloke who'd bought a bike and was advertising in the small ads in MCN breaking it for parts. Pegs and right hand clip on (replaced due to it blowing over in the wind due to p*ss poor side stand) bought from him. I suspect he was making a fortune - Aprilia UK in the early 2000s were a shower of s*ite with a chocolate teapot '3 year' warranty. Only thing dealers could get was clutch slave cylinders they used to fail so regularly they all had plenty of stock. Mine had just one replaced under warranty the other two failure they declined Seriously now LOL how poor the whole experience was.
Never again will I be stung be the lure of Italian stuff.

selling my pride and joy...

If you're that fking proud of it and it is such a fking joy, why are you selling it?!
Because he needs the money? Pretty sure that's why most people sell most things.

I quite liked this one i found ON EBAY today - caps lock by OP:

THE BAD BITS, NOT MUCH REALLY. OF COURSE ITS NOT HPI CLEAR (BUT THIS DID NOT WORRY ME) THERE IS SOME SCRATCHES ON THE SILENCER BUT I WASN'T GOING TO CHANGE IT BECAUSE ITS A GOOD ONE AND NOT BADLY SCRATCHED, AND THE IS A DENT ON THE TANK RIGHT SIDE AS SHOWN IN THE PICTURE NOT SURE IF IT CAN BE SEEN IN MAIN PICTURE, ITS KNUCKLE SIZE WHERE A HEAVY BAR FELL OFF THE SHELVE (GRRRRRR) THERE IS THE ODD BIT OF CORROSION (MOST WILL CLEAN OFF) AND SOME STONE CHIPS ON THE BLACK ENGINE PAINT

Not HPI clear? What could possibly go wrong???

And another one....

This time from an aeroplane advert. The aeroplane in question is fitted with one of the dodgiest engines to be designed in recent years and has major cooling issues, valves getting chewed and generally giving out at critical times. To make matters worse, this particular aeroplane has the engine at the rear so it receives even less airflow to keep it cool. Quotes include:

This is a very reluctant sale on behalf of the owner - eh??
Fitted with one of the last made late model manual tappit, large head engines renowned as the best Jabiru to have - its all relative smile
I am confident first to see will purchase - err...nope.

On the upside, you can purchase this for less than the price of a new R1 and enjoy playing twist or stick every time for real you go for a flight! Bargain.

"Would benefit from some cosmetic attention"

... Or a full set of panels and a frame respray due to being covered in gravel rash as it came off at redgate when the master cylinder failed....

"No time wasters"

WTF does that mean?
Oh that one is easy:

"One or more people have already seen it and then run away in horror as it's a pile of crap".

It can also be used by sellers to deter genuine buyers if they don't really want to sell it.

Was £6500 last week, mental money, even now the price is steep for ruined fairings.

The advert isnt too bad but the first lines and then the photos.

I'm a bit like that when a bike (or car) for sale has a whole load of unfitted new parts supplied with it. If that's how much you're admitting is wrong with it, I'm betting there's more. If you at least fitted those parts it'd show a bit of on-going maintenance.
As an example, I've been looking at Futuras. There's one advertised that comes with new fork seals. Now a part of me suspects that the seller has been wheelying up and down Whitby seafront and popped the seals from all the hard landings, but then another view is that the fork stanchions may have more pits than Wales ever did and the seller knows that changing the seals won't stop the leaks so hasn't bothered. Thus my first look would be at the forks, since he's drawn my attention to them!
Just as likely is that he discovered seals are leaking, found the new seals are only £20 so bought some, found that its a long job to fit them and either can't be bothered/hasn't got the kit to do it himself or doesn't want to pay 3 hours labour as dealers

"Genuine reason for sale."

Is there a pretend reason for selling something?

I'm sure that this has been posted before, but it is brutal in it's honesty....

"Fourways, Johannesburg: This bike is perfect! Only done 7000 kms and has had its 1500 km. dealer service. No falls/scratches. I use it as a cruise/commuter. I'm selling it because it was purchased without proper consent of a loving wife. Apparently "do whatever the fk you want" doesn't mean what I thought."
