I think Vinales will get the "I'm on the best bike, I should be World Champ" red mist and end up cart-wheeling into the air fence a lot. 2018 will be his year. '17 will be:

Marquez - because he's consistent now
Rossi - because he's had the least change of the remaining 3
Vinales - because he is super quick but will bin it a lot racing the old guard
Lorenzo - because it will take him half a season to get the hang of the Ducati.

Why? people should not read threads about racing if they don't want to see things they have not watched.

it's different if the title Says Stoner win's Oatar

can't wait for the start of the racing season. I know we had WSB but this weekend is the start of the racing year for me
Pay no attention to the old fool Matt. He appears to be more senile than myself and Fleegle combined.

I can see Iannone sneaking a few wins on the Suzuki.

I think Vinales will be champ this year.

Even though it's unlikely personally like this to be Dani's year...

I looked into it last month and the odds were st , 3/1 vinales to take the title.
I can't remember what odds I got a couple months ago but I don't think it was that bad! Worth a punt.

I forgot crazy joe! AI should win a couple races, he looks quick on that Suzuki.

Hoping Dovi is up there. Vinales may well bin it, as could Redding. Rossi top 5, Marquez and/or Vinales for the win, Lorenzo could be on the podium? Without some serious rain and cold tarmac the KTM,s I fear will be also rans. I'd bet on Lowes ahead of both if it stays reliable/upright. Crutchlow to pick up the pieces.

Subscribing to MotoGP.com this year. Looking forward to this season.

Bets on first to quit/fired?

Edit Crazy Joe could do anything!

Lorenzo
Marquez
Vinales is the result I'd like to see, whether it'll happen or not remains to be seen.

The duke is FAST, Qatar is the place to use it I reckon. I have a suspicion that George and the Ducati are holding back a bit, I don't know why they would but I really think he's still going to be a top 3 contender at every round.

The whole season is going to be interesting. So many rider changes is really going to mix things up! Rossi will struggle, Marquez will win the championship, vinales 2nd(if he can keep it upright under the pressure), Lorenzo 3rd, iannone 4th and Rossi 5th.

Whatever the results though, I am buzzing to see it!biggrin

Wet races are my favourite to bet on , last year was awesome with miller etc winning in the rain.

The weather isn't predicted to be good, so maybe an odd result ?
Zarco or Folger ?

That's where to bet on high odds potentially freak results , not the 3/1 rubbish.

Forecast is a bit iffy by all accounts (cloud seeding in the UAE is probably not helping). Hopefully my 2 flights will be on time so that I can get to my hotel (off to work in Lesotho) in time for the races.

Championship:
1) Marquez
2) Vinales
3) Rossi

I think that's a pretty good shout although if the bike/rider partnership comes good I think Lorenzo could be in with a shout. I cant see one rider romping away with it this year so we should be in for some good racing.

It will also be interesting to see what KTM can bring to the table because they don't go racing to make the numbers up that's for sure.

I'd like to think that Crutchlow could scrape an end of season 3rd place with his confidence from 2016 & some consistency.
Trouble is, to do that means ruling out some pretty quick consistent riders so somehow i can't ignore Marquez/Vignales battling for championship & Rossi having to feature in 3rd place, though with Rossi you can never rule him out being top Yamaha through familiarity & cunning.

Can't convince myself that Lorenzo will properly take to the Duke so maybe he could be 5th behind Cal in 4th.

I don't think the first race will indicate much apart from which bikes are quick & sorted at the beginning of the year.

Dovi for the win at Qatar.

Marc has got to be a clear favourite for the championship given his current form. Vinales will certainly win plenty of races though.

Lorenzo will struggle at non-Ducati tracks, but probably win at Mugello and Austria.

Iannone is super-talented but seems to be having front end woes on the Suzook. Rins will give him a run this year.

It's going to be a great battle between Folger and Zarco for top rookie honours.

Top crasher of the year will be Lowes, followed by Cal as per usual. If Sam doesn't get injured, he'll make some progress, otherwise it'll be a nightmare year.

Cal will be on the podium, but will need to roll the dice for another win.

Should be a great year with just about all the top riders of the moment in the class.

Some really good calls there.

I would also add:

Spaniards on Ducs: Bautista and Barbera both on for podiums
Underachieving nearly-men and to remain so: Pramac boys
Unexpected result: Abraham Lincoln will get a dumb-luck top 5 position at some point, probably in the rain
My biggest hope: Rossi stops with the self-inflicted riding and strategy problems which dogged him last year

I don't think Lorenzo will have dialed into the bike enough yet to challenge for a win, but I think he will be a challenger for the title after a couple of races.

Really looking forward to the season, some good bikes and good riders all with a shout.

Yep, all agreed.

As was pretty obvious last year, it was a bit disappointing that the non-factory Dukes had their engines turned down for the races. The GP15s were rocketships in factory colours, yet pretty average in a straight line when handed over. Not helped by the normal sized riders on board either.

Scott said the same will be true for his GP16 this year. He'll have a hard time keeping up with Petrux if his GP17 is un-neutered.

Aleix will go really well with plenty of top fives. Maybe even a front row start or two.

Scott says a lot of things...

(I think the funny Scottish guy on here said Scott's interview delivery made him sound like he'd been hit in the head with a brick biggrin)
