I've searched for ages and can't seem to find any pictures to help me so thought I'd start a new thread.

I'm after lowering my monaro. Don't think I want coilovers (although might change my mind). Was thinking of going for the pedders kit. Has anybody got pics to show the difference in low and super low on a vxr? Everything online seems to be on coilovers or cv8 on springs.

Thanks biggrin

I've been thinking about lowering my Monaro for the last twelve months or so and still can't decide what route to go down.

From what I've seen there is little difference in standard ride height and Pedders low springs. However I think the super lows are a little too low, so I'm leaning towards coilovers.

My main reason for lowering the car would be for aesthetics to be honest. The last thing I want to do is sink £1k into fresh suspension only to discover it doesn't look how I want.
At least with coilovers this can be adjusted.

Another CV8 shot, but here's mine on OE and Pedders low. I think they're about right.

With those pictures you can definitely see a difference but in life I don't think it'll be as low as I'd want. Nice that it gets rid of the arch gap but doesn't look that low for me. I have been preferring the super low route but don't want to regret it. I've always had my previous cars scraping on their arse but was meant to leave this car standard!

I take it the pedders shocks are a lot better than standard vxr ones? I am wanting it more for looks but would be nice to get rid of the boat like handling at the same time so hoping they will do the job.

i did the peddlers extreme xa kit , the ride is firm , it was lowered slightly but due to sports cars which hang lower i did not want to be scraping on every thing so i seem to have got the ride about right for what i wanted , firm ride but car is a lot better on the road , most main roads are in a better state of repair so firmer ride is fine , i don't regret having a firm ride v better handling you get

I had to update mine when a std shock was leaking a few yrs ago. Cost meant it was a no brainer. I went for the pedders kit (shocks only) = similar height.....my god....it light and day. The new shocks actually damp the springs well, more confidence in the rain and the bumpy roads in the uk. I didn't want to grind out the underside so didn't adjust the height (with new springs or coil overs)

Thanks for the replies. I'm trying to stay away from couplers this time (don't ask why because I'm not even sure ha) so trying to see how low the extra low is. I'll be fitting the pedders shocks as well so it's good to know they're a lot better than standard.

I'll keep searching and hopefully make my mind soon. Either super low or extreme coilovers.

I run on the Pedders Extreme Coilovers and I love them. The ride is firm but you have 30 settings to play with on all four. I need to bring my rear up a bit as now the springs have settled it's too low for my liking.

Looks stunning thete.

I think ideally I'd want the front of mine the same as that and maybe 10mm higher on the rear. People who have had super low how do you think it compares to the car above height wise?

I dont think many people have the super low fitted to either cv8 or vxr row. What headers do you have fitted to your car

I've just got the standard headers for the moment so I'm guessing there's no issue of them catching? I've found pics of vxrs on the low springs and they don't look anywhere near as low as I want. I really didn't want to go down the coilover route as usually I prefer a normal shock set up better but I've never tested pedders so I've no idea if I'll be happy with them or not.

They're not that much more to buy though so I know I'm going to go for them ha.

Ok i have pedders suspension but changed the spring rate and the height is between low and super low with longtube headers wich i have to be very carful over speed humps as they tend to scrape.

Thanks for the heads up but although headers are on the list for things to buy it's quite a way down the list and could be a while off yet ha.

It's a shame there's never second hand parts for sale because I wouldn't mind testing some super lows if they were cheap enough.

Do you need spacers or anything different with coilovers? Do they come with shorter drop links?

I've got pedders on mine. It's currently set to the softest setting as the roads in Liverpool on my drive to work are horrendous! It still handles well though . Sorry it's not the best photo but it's the only one on my phone

Fellow cutters member, glad you've still got the monaro. Still looking nice!

The more I think about it it makes more and more sense to go down the coilies route then at least I've got the options of height and dampening.

Fitted with pedders low kit .you do know the difference gives you so much more confidence in the car ,with headers fitted you catch the odd high speed bump ,but as always cautious with front bumper

That looks a lot lower than others I've seen. Looks spot on there. I'm really stuck on what to do now laugh

Saying that though looks like it's parked on a curb. Don't suppose you have any other side on pics have you?

Yeah that looks perfect but it must be on super lows surely?
