yup!

I tried an experiment last year. I touched a stinking hot wrapped manifold with the tip of my finger. Nada, nothing. I then tried the same on a coated one which I quickly and for several days regretted. Told me all I need to know about what works best. I have to admit though that the coating is prettier and doesn't fall apart as quickly but since the wrap cost me a tenner per manifold it brings us nicely back to your original point.

With £10 per wrap each side seemingly containing the exhaust heat to a much greater extent, I have to ask a technical, serious and important question related to the vast amounts of manifold heat that get dissipated around the engine bay...

Wrapping them... What does it do to the overrun bangs and flames? scratchchin

Surely it must be better, keeping all of that heat just where it's needed for longer?

And much more energy efficient than wasting all of that heat on spurious slow-roasting of the starter motor, airboxes, fuses, loom, fuel pipes, diver's feet and so on and so forth.

laugh I see where your going with this, but I have an engine with pre cats removed and Mbe ignition and runs cooler than ever and pops and bangs more. Jason's mapping hehe RV8 though smile

I've decatted mine, and it was very pop heavy before I did that. shoot

Now it's obviously even more so, with more frequent flames, especially when the exhaust has gotten hot. It will be mapped by Joolz once I've put it back together.

But you know... more is... well, more hehe

Yeah speak with Joolz, more and more you find yourself unable to feel the power on our busy roads so I'm finding the pops and bangs amuse the crap out of me biggrin

Under 2000 revs around town it's like clockwork, 1700 revs, then again 1400 revs, I can induce it by just getting the rev needle in the right place laugh it burbles and mumbles down to 900 revs and it makes slowing down a hugely fun event.

Ok I can make it happen by adding a touch of throttle as i'm decelerating but if I shut off completely it still does it at defined moments and has become part of the song hehe
Love it thumbup

I use an Emerald and tuned out the pops n bangs unless I just apply the tiniest bit of throttle then they come back. Nice to have the option where they are inappropriate, like when I have a hangover.

The wrap seems to make things a bit more explosive than before which I assume is because the manifolds get hotter sooner and cool down more slowly.
