Yeah, they're quick-ish. That they're 107kg, CVT and low geared (max 140kmh) they get what they can out of the nineteen horses they put out.Two stroke lovelyness.
Biiiing, dada, binnng, dada, biiing!

I had a very enjoyable ride at the weekend on my 50cc Piaggio Typhoon. 1996 with about 2500miles!
I had a couple of 125cc Typhoons twenty years ago.172cc, Malossi everything except exhaust.
Great fun and got to 40k kms on it.
It really was rather fast and the front was very light.
Surprised a lot of other riders.
Traded it in for a 4 stoke 200cc Gilera Runner. What an idiot I was!

I had seen all the tuning parts available back in the day but you have to do a lot to get any decent power increase. Exhaust, higher compression, big carb and a lot more noise. I've pondered building another engine like that so I can keep the original engine standard.

Thought I'd post my new scoot for the commute. Traded in the vespa 300 for an adv 350. So far so good. Handling and practicality way better, maybe loses out on the looks compared to the Vespa but probably every other scooter does.
Good scooter, I'm 6,000 miles in on mine now.My only advice, whip the exhaust cover off, scotch it down, and apply some exhaust paint to the exhaust.
Honda use water colour on it I reckon, mine started showing corrosion after just a few weeks.
It's surprisingly ok in the twisties. The full length front forks being a welcome addition to a scoot in this price range over the 350 Forza model.

How does the ADV350 fair on faster roads, motorways and dual carriageways? Tempted by a scoot for the commute but not if it can’t handle 20 miles of motorway each way every day
It's fine for motorways. It'll happily cruise along at 60/70mph, it will go above that, but its screaming at its top end going any higher.
Like most mid range scooters its brisk off the mark up to 50mph, then decent enough up to 70mph, slowish increase after that.
Country Lane overtaking is ok, just careful planning required if you're over 60mph already.
Mine is at 75mpg average after 18 months of usage.
My previous Forza was higher at 88mpg.
C400 in the very short time I rode it, 84mpg
All of those mid range scoots are fine for 20 miles on a motorway at legal speeds.

Thanks! Will have to give one a go. It'll happily cruise along at 60/70mph, it will go above that, but its screaming at its top end going any higher.

My 2022 Honda Forza 350 - The best mixed A road and urban commuter bike ever. Used for 6 months a year across the summer to commute from Kent to City of London.
My 10 year old station commuter I've owned for 9 years. Honda Vision 110 - Absolutely bullet proof, used in all weathers including ice and snow. Paid for itself 10x over on saving on parking costs alone.
So funny watching all of those 'proper bikers' who won't buy a scooter, commuting across central London using the wrong tool, but not realising that not only does no-one give a st that they are on a 'proper bike' vs a scooter, but their bike is usually a CB500, Hornet, Fazer, 15 year old sports tourer or some other mediocre knackered st bag that's so laughably bad that any saddo actually judging them would still be laughing.
Scooters are ace! Motorbikes are ace!

As such, I have now done the deal on a BMW C400X which seemed to me to be as decent a tool for the job in mind, especially with the heated seat and fancy dash! Pick it up next week - obligatory photos to follow

It seems the ADVs are rather popular and therefore as rare as rocking horse manure - my local Honda dealer can’t get any of them until November!

I only ask as the third year service cost is eye watering, or at least it used to be.
