Have they offered you a service deal?
I only ask as the third year service cost is eye watering, or at least it used to be.
No… I only ask as the third year service cost is eye watering, or at least it used to be.
Go on then, ruin my weekend… what am I looking at?!
It used to be something like £1200 for the 3rd service, they said it included changing the bushes engine to frame. (mine were changed at 700 miles under warranty)
There was a lot of chatter about it on the forums, they may have changed the schedules as a result.
I'd ask the dealer to confirm the prices, and maybe price up a plan.
They ride really well, and a slightly higher cruising speed than the ADV, and twin disc upfront too

My spanky new Xmax techmax 300. I believe it was on the very first batch of 300 techmax's to come into the country. Only put 40 odd miles on it yet but it's a cracker.
So much so, that I've sold my bike and this is now my only engine 2 wheel transport.
I love a scooter, I really don't understand the negative UK biker attitude towards them??

Holy moly! I did read about the problems with the bushes and engine vibration on some of the earlier ones but think/hope they’ve been resolved with the later models. Will get them to price up the servicing for the next few years so I know what I’m looking at. Service plan according to the BMW Motorrad website is either £450 for a “mid sized scooter” or £760 for a “scooter” (not sure which of these applies to the C400X) for three years/18k miles, so that may be worth buying regardless.

I'm pretty sure they have, when I left the Bmw forum the newer owners said they'd had no such problems. It's a shame though that the early adopters simply got the words "it performs as expected" from Bmw
They later issued a bulletin for the fault.

Because we dare to go out in temperatures less than 14 degrees. My first ever scooter to leave at the railway station, Suzuki AN125, had them ever since.

Spoke to a dealer earlier - they said it’d be about £800 for three years worth of oil, filter and brake fluid services, plus another £300 on top of that for valve clearances at 12k miles (which I’m bound to hit). That all makes the service plan look pretty good value, even when north of £700. It's a shame though that the early adopters simply got the words "it performs as expected" from Bmw

No mention of other scary sounding services on my particular bike though, which is a relief.

Hows it going?
About 250 miles in at the moment, so not doing huge miles. Still in the official running in period which is quite frankly, dangerous in places. 4500 revs is meant to be the max for the first 600 miles, but that equates to about 40mph. On a national s/l A road, It's just too slow.Apart from that, it handles really nicely, better than the C400GT I had previously. Lovely low centre of gravity and steers nice a quickly, even considering the 15" front wheel.
The initial issues I had with the tech (nav/ music/ phone) seem to have sorted themselves out, as it all has to go through the Yamaha Ride app, you need to open it probably daily, so it keeps you signed in. If you don't for a couple of days, it signs you out so you then have to go through the website and sign back in, bit of a ballache tbh. But now I have it working it's fine.
Overall, really enjoying it, but can't wait to get the first service and run in period out of the way.

My ADV's just turning two years old, so looking around to see what's next.

I've put handguards on it which give a nice bit of protection and keeps some temperature in the hands. I'm due to have some heated grips fitted at some point.
Handles really well, better than my old C400 as it's lighter. Averaging over 85mpg at the moment but I do expect that to drop a bit now I can use the whole rev range.
As a comparison to the ADV350 (my son has one). That feels a bit taller, but in reality there's very little difference. They do feel different to ride though, with the more knobbly tyres on the ADV, it doesn't quite feel as planted as the XMax. Performance wise, there's very little in it.
Overall, it's better than my C400, and slightly more road orientated than the ADV.
I'd be very happy owning either the ADV or XMax. I'm not at all disappointed with my XMax, and the tech on the techmax is very good now I've got used to it.
That's great feedback thank you.
I'm wanting a change from the Honda as my dealer has been poor.
Had leaky rear shock within 4 weeks, and they said £100 diagnosis fee
Then they quoted stupid high price for the first yearly service, had to travel further away to get it done.
I seem to attract these idiot dealers.
