After nearly 35 years of riding mainly sports bikes I got rid of my Street Triple in 2015 but then a friend sold me her 2008 Vespa GT 250 with a 300 motor.
I then wondered why I had bothered with geared bikes, especially in London.
So much fun, easy to ride, keeps a lot of weather off and pretty quick off the mark.
It was stolen at the beginning of 2018 and I did get a T Max but this was when insurance for scooters in London was going crazy plus the constant worry of it being stolen, ruined the enjoyment of what was a brilliantly handling fast bike.
The police found my Vespa a year later. Arrested the chap you was riding it on false plates and I got it back in a sorry state. Took a while to get it back on the road and it still looks ratty but it's in full use and the T Max was sold last Summer.

It is still a surprisingly good ride. I had it bored out to stage 4 during its rebuild, and it comfortably keeps up with traffic although, with those thin tyres and weedy brakes, I don't like taking it more than about 40mph.I had one in 1983 as a young mod. May give some thought to getting it mechanically sorted. Don’t want to sort the body work though. The front end was hand painted in red hammerite by our grandfather for some reason and there is a couple of his finger prints that I wouldn’t want to remove. The rest of the body has an amazing patina. Again, be a shame to get rid of it.
Sounds like a real gem, I'd get it running mechanically and use it sparingly, but enjoy it.jazzdude said:

Yup. My series 3 has a GT 190 kit plus RB crank, MB clutch, pipe etc etc . Disc brakes and all that. Had it to 90mph but that was far enough lol.Brads67 said:

there is no way I could even fathom that speed on mine, terrifying.I wanted to keep it original looking so did not opt for the disk brake kit, nor more free breathing exhaust and carb, although the exhaust box is bigger and I upgraded the standard carb. Its free revving and for the odd weekend dawdle around town, perfect.

Totally. I have a series 2 TV175 which is pretty slow but lovely to ride. I have a 1958 series 1 frambreather 150 as well, but not ridden that yet. It's being restored.I wanted to keep it original looking so did not opt for the disk brake kit, nor more free breathing exhaust and carb, although the exhaust box is bigger and I upgraded the standard carb. Its free revving and for the odd weekend dawdle around town, perfect.
I've had a few scooters over the years. Normally a spur of the moment thing when I think "I'd use that for commuting to work, its super cheap to run" then I get one and use it about 4 times in a year 
Currently have a 1991 Honda Vision Met-in SA50. Seen it local for a few hundred quid and a full MOT. Have no use for it but thought it looked a bit retro cool so went for a look. Took a helmet but decided it'd likely be quicker to get home if I could fit it in the boot, sure enough!
It was a bit rough around the edges cosmetically so thought it might be fun to repaint it in some 90's retro colours and whilst searching found a snap of Senna using one as a pit bike when racing with Mclaren Honda.
Thought it's a simple enough colour scheme to tackle with rattle cans, so after a few weeks of tidying everything up and repainting it, this was the result
Pretty pleased with it! Although now I've used it a couple of times and realised it only gets up to a maximum of 28mph I think it's better sold onto someone who has the space to keep it as an orniment or doesn't mind causing traffic behind them on every journey
