Xmax 300. Bought in November (thank you Blade Motorcycles). Never had a scooter before. My last two bikes were a ‘blade and an R1.

Absolutely love it. Actually great fun in London (power delivery with low down torque and handling) and brilliant that you can fit 2 helmets or one helmet and a bunch of other stuff Under the seat.

Makes me chuckle that many assume it to be a 50cc / 125 until you leave them at the lights - sorry to the guy on the Vitpilen last week!

Highly recommended.

I'd like to have had the xmax as an option for me, but me being only 5' 5" they're just a bit too tall for me.

I'm tempted to get a 2nd hand seat off the bay and see if it can be butchered, and recovered.

I'll need a bigger scoot for my upcoming tour around Europe.

I didn’t know exactly what to expect when I picked it up - bought it unseen, no test ride.

Was pleasantly surprised that it can hold its own on motorway speeds and happily see you going past most stuff.

It will pull over 90 on a private runway.

The 300 really covers a lot of bases imho.

My last bike was stolen a few years back and have had a bit of a biking gap - now also got myself tooled up with a Sena helmet radio (didn’t used to be a thing) - have a phone holder and remote control (came with the Sena) on the bars. So can now ride around with nav (visual and sound), audio speed camera warnings in the helmet and music with track back and forward and volume. Get that going, heated grips on - absolute bliss.

But yes - it is a bit tall. I’m 5ft 10 and a bit - and my feet are not flat down.

Some of the bigger cc scooters have an appeal - but for my use, I wouldn’t trade up to one for less under seat space.

This is our 1956 Cyclemaster "Piatti".

It belonged to our late Grandfather who had it from nearly new.

It's covered 8777 miles (I know for sure as it is currently next to my desk in my office.)

I've never heard it run but, as it needs an exhaust and tyres, it will most likely remain an ornament.

It is cool though, in an ugly kind of way.

May give some thought to getting it mechanically sorted. Don’t want to sort the body work though. The front end was hand painted in red hammerite by our grandfather for some reason and there is a couple of his finger prints that I wouldn’t want to remove. The rest of the body has an amazing patina. Again, be a shame to get rid of it.
Absolutely. It's part of it's story. Especially the part about your grandfather's fingerprints.

How are you getting on with it?

I've found Yamaha now offer a low seat option that takes 40mm off the seat height.

You lose the ability to store two helmets, but 1 is all I need so that'll work for me.

After rejecting a new 300 Forza, and a BMW C400, I'm just wanting a scoot that works, and one that doesn't have paint peeling off a new frame.

I've not heard any negatives about the Xmax so far.

My dilemma bought this cheap last week and thought get rid of all the accessories and paint it a standard colour and it will look much better.

Then looked up the original builder his name is painted on the front mudguard and found out it had been in a magazine and on a scooter rally patch.

Real problem is I’m not keen on it but I can’t paint it and loose it’s history so going to be a garage ornament for a while

Yeah very happy with it - my comments above stand. Nippy / practical / fun. I even find myself enjoying the handling and look for bends to lean it into. It’s my first scooter so not much to compare it with - but my last 3 bikes (tho going back 9 yrs ago) we’re a fireblade, an R1 and a fireblade so I do have some experience.

I am mostly riding it around London but picked it up in Swindon new and rode back - was expecting it to be an unpleasant journey - but actually no worries making progress on dual carriageways and I wouldn’t have concerns about doing longer distance on it if need be.

The 300 seemed the pick of the range to me as I didn’t want to go up up tmax, the 400 doesn’t seem to have much more power, whereas the 125 is pretty much the same weight but obviously with much less go. Not that I did any test rides (tho I did research as much as I could online and YouTube).

Here you go (2021 Xmax 300 review):

I think I paid in the £4k range for mine (certainly less than £5k) as a new / delivery mile pre-reg bike - probably a Covid bargain - not sure if those deals are still around.
