Looks like Marquez has used the extra 5% he was sparing at Qatar.

I don't think it's a true reflection of everyone's pace, more the conditions.

Look at Pecco, Bastianini, Aleix, Bezzecchi are after FP1. Good for the media hype though.
Morbidelli found an extra 50% biggrin
True LOL

Not much to say about Marini is there...

Joking aside, good on him as this is where he knocked himself out and ruined his pre-season schedule.

Marini must be kicking himself for electing to ride the Honda

Very pleased for Maverick and Marc

Maverick seems pretty level headed and confident at the moment. I hope he can keep it up.

Marc absolutely terrifies me on the brakes, can barely watch. It was interesting to hear that his off in in quali was because he hit the rear ride height device too early, as Hodgy said that just shows his current level of familiarity with the bike... More to come.

Pecco ultimately still the man to beat for now but it was a silly mistake he made.

Peco should walk it this year, unless he is involved in a crash or had a technical issue he should win the main race tomorrow quite comfortably.

The race for the lower podium positions should be entertaining, i can see the 23 spec satellite Ducati's dropping back quickly as the season goes on, the 24 Ducati is a rocket ship. Hopefully the KTM and Aprillia teams continue to improve.

Gotta think Martin cooked his front tyre chasing Maverick for those laps, leaving him vulnerable to Marquez at the end. He seemed to slow rather than Maverick pulling away. Great ride by all of them.

So Mav has upped his stock again, hopefully he'll keep it going for the season.

Pecco messd up but he is usually pretty consistent so tomorrow might be a different story.

Those Hondas, it’s embarrassing. MM looking decent, it’s going to be a close run title this year. Really enjoying the racing.

It’s good for the championship that MM is on the 23 spec Ducati, because I don’t think anyone would get near him if he was on this years bike.

Why didn't factory Duc take Marc? Is it a contract thing?

It's only 1 year contract.

If he moves next year he has full knowledge of the '24 Ducati

I wouldn’t bet against it tbh if he continues like he is.

What a round so far! Quali was entertaining, Pedro looked awesome in Q1. Marc's brainfart piled on the pressure, was a shame the directors decided not to follow his fastest lap more closely as he was hammering the corner entries. That said, his lost lap would've seen him ahead of Pecco, possibly front row.

Sprint was great, fantastic to see Maverick win, he really needed it. I was most impressed that he got a good start, let's hope he can do similar today and maintain good form for a while. Jorge did his maximum, still complaining of chatter on the softs which needs sorting. Chatter or no though, he got schooled today, and that won't be the last time this season; fantastic to see Marc on the podium already, and he sounds more confident of the race.

Pecco might talk about "managing the gap", but he did his fastest first and third sectors on the previous lap, as well as his third fastest third sector. Maverick had clawed four tenths back across the two laps, so Pecco was pushing to try to maintain the advantage. Mistakes happen under pressure, and that was a minor one.

For the rest, Acosta, Quartararo and Raul Fernandez did well to score decent results, Fabio getting a Sprint point reflecting how the Yamaha's are going relatively well here, at least in comparison to Qatar.

Top Ducati and the next GP23 was 11th in the hands of someone who challenged for the championship last year; Marc is on the shopping list of all of the factories.

I'm not convinced there's a seat for him at KTM

Pedro will move up for sure, and it'll be bye bye jack to tech 3, but I don't see them demoting Brad.

He may elect to stay put if he can get a deal for a later variant Ducati, he seems to be really enjoying himself at Gresini.
