Hello all,

I currently own a K8 GSXR 750 that has covered 46,000KM, overall I'm very pleased with it. However, I have always had an itch to upgrade to an L1. Is it a big step up or would I be better of investing in say a better rear shock for my K8 and front fork rebuild?

I know that the k8 has a 15mm longer wheelbase compared with the L1, as a result it is more flickable. Can anyone verify this?

I find my K8 comfortable compared to other sports bikes too. Does the L1 sacrifice some of this comfort?

Looking forward to hearing from follow GSXR owners smile Thanks in advance!

L1 has Showa bpf front forks and Brembo front callipers. I had the bpf on a Triumph I back to backed with a K4 750 and didn’t like them at all.

I think you would get a lot more out of refreshing / upgrading your K8 vs going for a stock L1.

K8 looks nicer too.

I have to agree, I do like the K8's front end.

A shorter wheel base is usually less stable I.e. flickable, think sports bike vs drag bike. The weight distribution and the rake angle will have a big influence on flickability as can suspension set up, the weight of the wheels (rotational weight) and tyre profile.

A test ride is the only way to know.
