Bear with me on this... few thoughts bouncing around my brain!!

I really like the KTM Superduke because of the v-twin character, and leftfield design REALLY does it for me, it's different and sharp. Reviews sound great. Not sure if i can go naked. Need a test ride. I lust for this bike.

However.... if I do decide to go naked there are other options, namely the CB1000R, Speed Triple, FZ1, Tuono etc. Speed triple i love the idea, but don't dig the styling. FZ1 i don't like the sound of 80mph 1st gear, 100+ 2nd gear, probably too much for me TBH. That leaves Tuono and CB1000R. Tuono has the twin, but a paired down RSV might still be too focussed for 10 mile commute and A/B road blast. Love the sharp styling of the CB1000R and need a test ride... but it's a IL4, and I'm drawn to the sound of a twin.

Then there is the money. Hopefully I could get £2.5k-£3k for my almost mint 06 SV650S (wear on top yolk & heel plates. FSH, all panels un-marked, baffled remus ti can). Add to that £2k savings... Might be able to scratch a 2nd hand superduke... but would definately have to part-finance a CB1000R which I really should avoid (would be nice to have some money to blow each month after bills, pension, savings etc).

I also have an idea about keeping the SV and getting a carbed fazer thou for £2k... but that might just be silly.

so.... gratuitous pictures...

(I couldn't get the R but take a look at this)

Well, I'm a massive fan of anything Honda and normally I'd be advocating a visit to the nearest Honda dealer pronto.

However, the KTM is one sexy bike. If it's going to be your only form of transport, I'd go for the Honda. If not, it's a no brainer and I think you should be going for the KTM.

Just MHO of course smile

I don't think KTM has a reliability issue. My mrs has a car so while the bike isn't the my only form of transport, it is my primary transport.

They ran one for a while as a staff bike in bike mag, it stood up to lots of commuting well.

The Honda dealership in Shrewsbury have a white CB1000R demonstrator. It looks superb in the flesh and goes like a train no doubt.

i NEED one, now. was looking to get a sensible motorway cruiser for the commute (beemer) but would it be so terrible to get a 20k loan and get a beemer for the motroway and a super duke R for the weekends?
