Any of you off road chaps have any special tips about cleaning out dried up mud from a bike rad? Ideally I'd want some special stuff to spray on to the mud which would dissolve it and I wouldn't have to do anything except lazily aim a hose pipe at it rather than have to do anything lengthy and tedious using small pointy instruments... here's hopingwink

Cheers,

Your bike's dirty? Just buy a new one, surely?!

Lol. My bike is only cleaned once a year - just before its motwink

However, after 7 years the rad is starting to look a bit bunged up and I'm concerned (slightly) about it's ability to cool.

Cheers,

Rad guard / louvres off and jet wash until clean!

Just make sure you adjust the spray to be as wide as possible as the narrow jet will bend your rad fins.

If the dirt is particularly baked on then alternate between jet washing and soaping to break down the dirt.

How old is the bike by the way?

I'm hoping the dirt is not 7yrs old otherwise you might be there for a while! hehe

If my bike gets particularly stained then Cilit Bang Grime and Lime usually does the trick.

My bike is in my profile pic.....I'm not a proper motocrosser though because I like cleaning my bike! boxedinlaugh

Cilit Bang - I'll try that. Thanks smile

It's not all been on there for 7 years but I guess it's been building up. I just noticed that there's an area in the middle I can no longer shine a torch through while fixing something else which can't be great for airflowwink
