They are quite good, I am 9.5 in old money but always buy 44 shoes, which is normally a 10 or 29cm, as my right foot is slightly different, broken bones an' all that. The left is a fine fit, but because they are Italian, a bit narrow for my right. Try some then email me tomorrow. Sorry OP

Will try some on but I have a feeling they will be too tight. I wear 10/11 usually but will try anyway. Thanks.

No worries mate, thanks for the offer.
I've actually seen some Vertigos on ebay that I'm watching, fingers crossed I can bag myself a bargain that will certainly see me through the DAS and first few months on the road!

Best none-race boots are Altbergs. Made in the Peoples Republic of Yorkshire by skilled cobblers. Generally take 3 months or so to arrive, but are made to fit your feet (I recommended them to an old Bike-shop owning friend who has different sized feet, I kid you not).

They are more like slippers to wear than boots. An old mate of mine is an armed response copper and he has three pairs of different designs for stakeouts etc, swears by them.

You can specify various bits when you order them (they are available with or without waterproof linings, for example), and they have come out tops in RiDE tests too.

And all for a lot less than a pair of Sidi's.

www.altberg.co.uk

They also keep you order on record so if you need another pair, they don't have to re-measure your feet.

Hve I convinced you yet?

Problem I find with Sidi (I've got the Black Rain) is the leather of the toe extends out over the sole, so when I walk in them, or sit down and tuck my feet under my chair, the leather on the front gets scuffed up by the tarmac. I've had them a few years and they were totally waterproof to begin with but now let a bit of water in the toes.

I've got a few mates with Altbergs who swear by them.

Another vote here! I've got 2 pairs, just bought another pair, best boots you can buy and almost indestructable! They don't look at all racy, in that they havent got lots of plastic crap on the them, but all the better for that in my view!

Great boots!

Another vote for AltBergs here.

I used to wear AltBerg patrol boots when I was in uniform, and they were the comfiest boots (for the price) by a long shot.

As long as you keep the motorbike boots well polished (not bulled or anything, just plenty of polish), there's no problems with waterproffing. I wore mine all through the winter, no worries.

Sidi Vertiba Corsa's, try a few pairs on though as there was a quite big variation in size in different boots.

I bought mine a few weeks ago and they are a snug fit straight from the off and not terribly comfortable straight away but after a few hours they are shaping up nicely. They are quick to do up and adjustable with "snowboard boot" type inners and closures.

Another Vertigo Corsa user here, I like them; comfortable, easy to get on/off, look good and would appear to offer good protection in the event of an 'off'.

Another Sidi Vertigo vote here.

I've used them in the wet and I was surprised how waterproof they actually are. If you were to apply some of the Nikwax product for boots, they would probably be even more so.

Very, very comfortable.

I'll wait 'til I've got my bike until I buy some new ones which will of course have to be co-ordinated with the lid and leathers!! boxedin

Hmm, maybe for the first 20 minutes but then...

;)

Waterproof socks from millets - stick a pair in your bag, never get wet feet again and you can dry the boots out when you get home.

I must be lucky then. I wore mine all of the time when doing my DAS and the Sidis certainly got wet I can assure you hehe

I wore them in the wet for a whole morning and they were fine - dry feet. Obviously you have to shut the air vents at the side for them to work bestwink
