Saw the race yesterday and the crash looked bad. Heard this morning Craig Jones had died. Tears burn my eyes at the moment

Tragic accident claims the life of Craig Jones
World Supersport star succumbs to injuries
Craig Jones, aged twenty three from Northwich, Cheshire has died in hospital as a result of a serious head injury sustained in an accident during yesterday's FIM Supersport World Championship race at Brands Hatch. It appeared that he lost control and fell from his Team Parkalgar CBR600 Honda at Clark Curve and was immediately and unavoidably struck by a following rider.
Immediate expert medical attention was provided and Craig was then flown by the Kent Air Ambulance to the Royal London Hospital where further assessment and treatment continued. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of this morning (Monday).
Jonathan Palmer, Chief Executive of MotorSport Vision said; "I am so desperately sad that Craig died from the injuries he sustained at Brands Hatch yesterday. He was a really super young guy and only on the Saturday evening was I chatting to him in the paddock with him telling me about his WSB ambitions for 2009. Craig was so determined and professional, would always say hello and enthusiastically keep me in touch with his progress."
"Britain has lost a wonderful rider whom I admired enormously and had every chance of being a future World champion. It is fitting that the abiding memory so many of us will have of Craig was him riding brilliantly, battling for the lead of an incredible race, in front of his home crowd. It seems barely believable that such a freak accident claimed his life and I extend my deepest sympathies to his family and friends."

It's rare when these things happen but very sad when it does, especially being as he was only 23. I think the good thing people can take from this is that at least he died doing something he loved and enjoyed.
+1RIP and condolences to the family. Hopefully Andy Pitt will come to terms - it was a terrible but totally unavoidable accident given how close they were racing as they came through the Curves.
We were also in the grandstand on pit straight yesterday and Andrew Pitt stood no chance of avoiding Craig. The marshalls and race direction acted as swiftly as any I've seen in these kind of circumstances and the medical staff were with Craig as soon as they could and should have been.
Having watched Craig through a considerable amount of his senior career rising through the ranks at BSB rounds into Worlds you get to know the riders character and have an affinity with them.
I've probably seen him race 40+ times and he was so talented and committed. I only spoke to him the once at Donington last year at the last BSB round and only to say what a great ride I thought his Triumph win was at Donington while he was in BSS, he was still suffering from the pelvis injury from Brands last year.
He was joking on the grid on Sunday with Karl Harris and the crowd and seemed very happy and relaxed, which belied what a burning desire he had to win yesterday , evident during the race.
Of my top rides that I've witnessed live Jonesy's ride to victory on the Triumph in BSS at Donington is easily challenging for the lead, probably one of the greatest displays of a riders refusal to be beaten I've seen.
My condolences go to the family, friends and team.
RIP Craig and thanks for the memories.
may i just say as well, condolences to the parkalgar honda boys, we all understand how the family and his partner must be feeling, but the team must also face the task of collecting his bike and packing all his things away, something like that must be horrendous and wont be forgotten in a hurry,
