Not in a Honda it won't smile It'll be smooth, torquey-ish, reliable and the press will ask why they bothered . . . then they put a 1200cc version in the new Pan and it all starts to make sense.
I dunno, the new Fireblade is shoulder to shoulder with anything else.

The best 1000cc in line 4 cylinder sports bikes have circa 175 bhp, for their circa 175 kgs.

No way, as a road bike, is even the Honda V5 motor going to move the game on much, in terms of outright performance.

But what the engine is, is different and will have twice the charater of a 999/4 pot.
Latest technology often does not target outright performance.
Get an old skool turbo'd Busa or similar if that's your aim.
I agree fully, the new V5 will offer more than just bhp, that's my point.

If it has the same firing order as the GP990 it'll certainly sound like it has character!!

Well i'll be interested to see the first road tests.. Honda have made the odd faux pas in the past (notably the VTEC and the NR750 and the odd under-performing or oddly styled blade) Great technology but the product didn't live up to the spec..

I quite like the look of that.... but with 990/5 based engine I'm pretty sure I won't be able to afford it!

Regardless of the facts of this case, I love it when folk call MCN (or anything else for that matter) the 'least respected rag of the industry'.

Dear Sir, do you even know what you're talking about? Do you know how much money MCN generates? Do you know how many jobs in 'the industry' depend on good MCN figures? Do you know how intrinsic 'that rag' is to healthy motorcycle sales?

Somehow I think the answer is already before me...

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha please tell me that your regular job is a stand up comedian, if not then you really do beleive the mcn sales parp!!

why is it that most of the monthlys get test rides on the new bikes before mcn nowadays??

why is it mcn's advertising revenue has gone down 40% in the past 2 years??

how can it be that there sales figures have dropped just over 30% this year alone??

all because of the fact that the modern mcn is inclined to bend the truth as well as making up stories, as well as having poor writing and test staff nowadays, there sport reporting is hilarious, they like to blow the slightest things out of all proportion.

but either way, obviously you will contest all of these points and continue to sing its praises.

sorry, i must go, i have to use mcn as toilet rag this morning. oh, and ill tell everyone down at honda uk that there job depends on them buying mcn...rofl

I know that MCN is a joke and anything written in it has to be taken with a pinch of salt but......If the new VFR is like MCN are suggesting then I will be getting one smile
