Same format for me back in 1965.

Same, c 1989. Did have to do the part one though. A few cones, figure of eight, but then everyone always passes. I guess that's why they got rid of it.

half way through my test my instructor sneezed and for whatever reason felt I needed to know so pressed the radio button as he did it. It hurt my ear.

The radios are normally voice activated so they'll start transmitting automatically any coughs or sneezes.

It's normal practice to be followed by a bike but not unusual for a car to be used instead, I had a car trying to keep up with me on my test.

I passed today (go me!!)

Was followed by a car, not sure if it was because it was raining or whatever, but I found it so much less intimidating than the police looking bike filling my mirrors.

A Rover 200 last month in Cheltenham. Genuinely nice guy. After I'd kitted up with his radio etc he said "perhaps you should fasten your helmet because that would be an instant fail"

He got out of the car and stood on the pavement for the set pieces of U turn , emergency stop etc. He stood in the road - very brave because I'd failed a previous test (about 15 years ago) for nearly running over the examiner on the stop.
