Broken handle bar - but how?
Discussion
Thought I'd share this experience with you all.
Attached photo is of my 1991 ZZR1100 left hand handle bar in two bits!
How did it break? All I was doing was pulling her up onto the centre stand - not much effort involved in that - I do it all the time. In fact, I recon I sometimes pull on that handle bar just as hard when I'm riding it, know what I mean.
So why did it break? She's fallen off the side stand twice that I know of over the past 10-yrs - busted up the wing mirror once and got away with only scratches the second time - has this never happened to you? No damage to anything else ..... or so it would seem.
The handlebar mount is cast Aluminum (brittle) and must have taken a lot of force during these falls.
I hope you can all learn from this experience - if your bike goes over, think a little deeper than the obvious broken and scratched bits.
