Guys,

has anyone fitted the TT Rider V2 to a BMW K1200 which runs the CANBUS wiring system. The supplied powerlead for the mount has two wires (red and black) but I want to know where/how to fit it to the BMW. On a normal bike, it would be an easy solution to connect it to the ignition circuit.

Any ideas before I start removing body work.......

Regards,

Ian

The BMW Canbus loom has a power take off point to wire in a GPS. You will need to get the Aux plug which connects into the canbus then wire in the GPS to this. As an alternative you can power off the Aux power supply mounted on all BMWs. Not sure where its situated on your bike but usually under the seat on the near side.

Hi Max,

I've heard about the GPS take off point but I thought that was for the BMW GPS system - do you know if there is a lead/connector available that I might be able to splice.

I already use the Aux power socket but I would prefer to have the wiring hidden under the body work.

You could wire the Tomtom lead straight in to the back of the aux socket if you want to leave it permenantly on. The UKGSer site mentioned above is your best bet though, they've got an entire forum dedicated to electrical accessories, and one of the members works for Tomtom, someone somewhere is bound to make an interface lead.

Thanks for all of the replies - I found exactly what I needed regarding the CANBUS BMW connector cable and that the inbuilt connector is located under the battery cover.

If any one is thinking of adding the same setup you will need the following BMW Part:-

Part No = 80000611656, Description = REP CONNECT, Price = £5.93 + VAT (£6.97)

To fit the Tomtom cable (2 Wires Red and Black) and the BMW Cable (3 Yellow Wires, numbered 1, 2 and 3), you can ignore the yellow number 2 wire as this is only for the speedo-link (not used), connect the Black Wire to Yellow Wire Number 1 and the Red Wire to Yellow Wire number 3.
