I had the misfortune to ride from Dudley to Worcester at 16:30 today. about 200 yards into the journey the traffic stopped. I then had a monster filter of a good few miles between stationery and very slow moving traffic down mainly dual track...

had a couple of peeps move in on me deliberately but only a couple, I was much more surprised to see lots of people actually move over to let me through...

I chickened out of filtering between a couple of artics mind and held back..

I must admit I was giggling to my self all the way... It must have taken the cage dwellers a good hour or so to travel those few miles...

Quick question though.

when you come up to a crossing with the zig zag lines, I take it legally you cant filter even if both lanes are stationery? as thats overtaking?

I ended up doing it a couple of times ( allegedly) as after a minute of sitting in the middle of the road with a nice big gap and nothing moving I was feeling like a tt sat there

cheers

I don't get the mentality of people who move out on you on purpose - it makes me wish i was more of a wr like them so i could take their wing mirror with me.

From the Highway Code:

191
You MUST NOT park on a crossing or in the area covered by the zig-zag lines. You MUST NOT overtake the moving vehicle nearest the crossing or the vehicle nearest the crossing which has stopped to give way to pedestrians.
[Laws ZPPPCRGD regs 18, 20 & 24, RTRA sect 25(5) & TSRGD regs 10, 27 & 28]

From this I believe that it is OK to pass stationary vehicles, as long as there are no pedestrians around who BiB can claim the vehicle nearest the crossing had stopped to give way to.
