I have twice had some roll-on fun with Busa's from 40 to 130 (ahem track..) and on both occasions the Busa rider has been unable to out accelerate me on the R1. However, I hear Busas are easier to launch than the majority of litre bikes due to long wheelbase/weight.

The new one looks great in white tho.

Hence why a 400 gives most litres a run for their money up to 30
That i find hard to believe... A sports 400 (ZXR,FZR etc) has all its power at strasospheric revs where as litre bike (tho this is changing in the search for headline figures) has bags more torque and will get off the line far quicker.
The 400 is going to be lighter, geared differently and have a less porky rider on it though.

Could well believe a sports 400 would keep up with anything upto 30.
Biggest battle 0-30 is keeping the front down. Any bike that hits 30 in first (pretty much all of them!) and has enough power to flip with you dumping the clutch at max revs whilst putting all your weight over the front is likely to have a 0-30 which is more down to technique and ease of use rather than outright power...

Therefore a 400 could quite feasibly beat a thou to 30 (and get completely murdered after that!)
Yeah i guess its possible.. But i rode a FZR400RRSP some years ago and im pretty confident my GSXR1100 was alot quicker off the line.. But hey we're splitting hairs... Its a tough call..

On the 'litre' bikes versus 'Busa' debate, my guess is ultimately the latest zx10's, R1's etc will have the same if not better HP figures and be significantly lighter so flat out in the right gear i'd imagine them to be atleast as quick as the Busa.

However for tractability and ease to exploit the power the Busa would get my vote. Also with its size/Stability and aero package would be the nicer bike to ride at very high speed for long distance.

What's fastest depends on the abilities and attitude of the rider too. I was following a 'busa for a fair while yesterday, I was generally quicker than him in to the corners, and getting the power down earlier on the way out, with him then blitzing me on the straights. I was 2 up on a 16yr old bike with 70bhp biggrin Either he was just bimbling or he wasn't confident in his own abilities. biggrin

an old v max like this feels fast enough. god knows what the fastest bikes feel like. a hyabusa must still count as mega fast.

is there a bike faster than a 'busa.

now im not talking about top end speed, cos i dont think there is.

im talking about accselleration(i know its wrong)
For acceleration of the mark my Harley V-Rod feels quicker than my Kawasaki ZXR750 to 60. Has tons of V2 torque, is soo long and low the front doesn't lift and with 260mm of rubber on the back it just launches. It also has a seat you can shove your arse into and use you hands to operate and steer rather than holding on for dear life. If you go much past 80 the fairing and screaming power band of sports bikes does have the edge.

As most agree, there are so many fast bikes it usually comes down to the rider.
