So they take the cover off it, sit on it, play with it.

It'll only be a show bike anyway despite the cf.

It says in the thread that it's one of last year's race bikes, now used for promotional purposes. Obviously it will be like Trigger's broom in terms of components, but I imagine at least the frame has been used in a race.

Nice find though, and the Fiat 500 towcar is an inspired choice!

Doesn't look to me like it's been touched since it was raced. Wouldn't surprise me if that's a runner.

It was used for promo stuff in the USA last week (I believe there are some publicity shots of the Fiat 500 towing it through NYC) and that very same bike was on the Yamaha stand at the Indianapolis GP. I even have a couple of photos of me with it somewhere smile

I think those guys had some balls to actually sit on it and stuff.

Do you reckon it was a runner Raw?

Judging from the state of some of the parts and the obvious amount of tech on it, I wouldn't be surprised if the chassis and a few others bits were a runner at some point.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Thanks.

I cant believe they had the cheek to uncover it, never mind sit on it!!! Pictures would have been fair game had it been uncovered, but that is taking the urine I think.
Cool find though.

Plenty of authentic pointers there on the bike (esp the telemetry kit) but I find it very hard to believe that it was just parked up in a hotel garage for a long time with no security at all??

Even if it wasn't a runner it must stil be worth a few gazillion yen, and even if it's last year's bike it must hold some info of interest to the opposition??

Surely Stoner would have been interested in how the "stay the right way up" button works tongue out

My wife got to sit on Rossi's spare race bike after the 06 Barcelona GP. The lucky cow was wandering around the paddock with her sister (both tall, slim and blonde) being nosey, and one of the mechanics spotted them. He invited them in for a tour of the garage and no doubt to show them his equipment, but he let them have a sit on one of the bikes. When we saw the pictures we pointed out that she was in fact sat on Rossi's bike out and how much it was probably worth - she nearly died given that she'd nearly dropped it. After letting them sit on the bike, they asked if they fancied going for drinks later hehe

To this day, I'm still extremely envious.

I daren't ask what you'd have done for the mechanics.

its pretty amazing that they would just leave a £1m ish M1 on a trailer in a hotel car park without anyone watching it.
