Surely with the weight of a bike you could use the engine as a stressed member and do without heavy cradle frames around the engine - a V8 should be smooth enough to prevent monstrous vibration? Just bolt a swingarm to the back of the block and some forks to the front
The 'TVR bike' has no frame. The front and rear sections are separate and bolt to either end of the motor. It is mock built only, though it has lots of potential to actually work quite well. Maybe one day soon I'll give it the attention it deserves and finish it. That and give it a 300 + HP motor.
I have serious doubts that a small rad under the sump would ever cool an engine that size, due to simply not getting the air flow it needs.

Thinking out loud here.
What IS the most compact V8 car engine, i wonder?
(Nothing out of a 2007 Ferrari, you understand!)
Something available for sensible bucks.
Something like the 5.0 version of a Rover V8, as found in a TVR Griffith.
Is that any smaller and lighter than say a 5.0, 302 cubic inch Mustang engine?
The RST V8. 2,400cc and can by 'charged to produce an unholy amount of power, I seem to recall it weighing in at around 80kg undressed, too:What IS the most compact V8 car engine, i wonder?

It starts off the button and is very much rideable. I have serious doubts that a small rad under the sump would ever cool an engine that size, due to simply not getting the air flow it needs.
Who said anything about a 'small' radiator? There's a normal size one with electric thermo controlled fan under there, which works perfect, even at constant tickover when stationary - for any length of time. No need to doubt anything. The RV8 motor has sat in many engine bays over the years without over heating, so why not a bike?

That guy might be a competent engineer, but he's certainly got a degree in false promises!
I believe nothing about 'new' bikes and cars from him, until i see one on the street!
You talking about my buddie..I believe nothing about 'new' bikes and cars from him, until i see one on the street!
Al Melling..
Actually - I think you might be right.
Although his latest car - the Griff look a like - does appear to be nearly finished the proto type stage but getting from there to production and for sale - is another matter.

I'm confused, as a 'mock up' to me means the bits are literally just tacked together to see if they fit. If it is a rideable bike then it certainly is much more than a mock up. Looking at the piccie again I see that you could fit a fairly large rad under there, with some decent fannage it could work. My Morris had a RV8 in, with a very small engine bay, but that ran okay, even in slow stop-start traffic. I used an electric water pump to keep the length of the motor down.
So, where can I get to see this remarkable bike? Whereabouts are you in the country, your profile is sparse on details.

Talking of car engined bikes - do you remember the Shifty in the late 70's..
The engine was from a Fiat .. about 1 litre ..
Looked like the hunch back of notre dame..
Blimey, yeah. I had forgot about that one!The engine was from a Fiat .. about 1 litre ..

Anyone remember this one?

I've stood next to the Triumph Rocket with the 2.3 litre engine (WTF?) at my local bike shop (didn't fancy sitting on it, wouldn't be albe to pick it up if I slid on the shiny floor and dropped it...) and it looked utterly enormous. The girlfriend loved it, said it looked really comfy. I'll bet with a 2.3 litre engine and all that torque it's a beast that'll shove the locked front wheel along the ground and scare the crap out of you...
You must be one of these outsized body builder types to need a 'bigger' bike than that Rocket thing.

I had a Kawasaki 1300 back in the eighties, hell of a beastie, 720lbs apparently. I could lay it down on its side and pick it up on my lonesome with no massive effort. It is not like you are lifting the whole weight of the bike at once. You must be one of these outsized body builder types to need a 'bigger' bike than that Rocket thing.

Yes that's exactly right. Non of the structural sections are welded to a finish. They are 'tacked' for want of a better description. The forks are crudely sleeved between the yokes to get the additional length. And they belong to a mid 90's ZXR and are by no means what the finished bike would ever run with. The rear wheel, from a Merc, still carries its 15 inch car tyre. The footrest are crudely hung and are by no means keepers. The complete bodywork sections are constructed with fairly heavy steel. They need to be glass fibre. The steel is used here so as gf replicas could be moulded off them. The seat is a piece of foam rapped in the torn of remnants of some scooter I found at the local breakers. Please don't let me harp on. It does need stripping, welding, grinding, smoothing, painting, draping in better parts. Oh yeah, and a bloody good high horse engine donating from somewhere so we can try for 200mph on something that weighs probably the wrong side of 600lbs. Mind you, the wheelbase is the same as a CBR600 and it's nowhere near as daunting as it looks to ride. In fact it's quite docile.King Herald said:

Your PM won't work, so if you fancy like letting me drool over your project could you PM me?
I'm based in the Midlands, but stuck offshore USA for three more weeks.
